I have two children, a husband, and one messy dog, and sometimes feel like I spend the entire day picking up after them. The one chore that I used to always dread was washing the floors. However, since I purchased the Swiffer WetJet, I no longer spend a dreary day mopping my floors and wishing for maid service. Well, I still wish for maid service, just not for washing my floors.
The Swiffer WetJet has replaced my old routine of getting down on my hands and knees and spending hours washing my floors. I can quickly have my floors washed and they feel just as clean as my old cleaning method. If there is a stubborn spot that needs more elbow grease, the Swiffer WetJet has an attached scouring pad that gets the job done.
While I applaud the Swiffer company for coming up with this great invention, there are a few things that I'd like to point out about the Swiffer WetJet:
* While it's easy to use, it does not fit into tight spots due to the solution bottle taking up space.
* Occasionally I have found dried up dust and dirt residue left behind and have to use a wet paper towel to clean it up.
* The cleaning solution has a strong smell, which may turn off some people. I don't mind it because I like having proof that I cleaned my house and didn't lay around eating bon bons all day.
* I always make sure to have extra cleaning solution and pads on hand. The same goes for batteries. It's a big bummer when I run out of something mid-cleaning and have to put off finishing the job.
* The cleaning solution and pads can be expensive, especially when compared to the cost of one bottle of water-dilutable cleaning solution (such as Mr. Clean, etc.). I don't use the Swiffer WetJet for small spot cleaning jobs because it's not worth the cost of using one cleaning pad for a small area.
* The cleaning solution bottles are recyclable, but the disposable cleaning pads are not. Sometimes I feel guilty about adding more unnecessary items to a landfill when I could have used a bucket and mop instead.
Even with the few small negatives listed above, hands down, I'm still a big fan of the Swiffer WetJet. With all of the spills and tracked-in dirt and mud, it has saved my sanity several times. It's a great feeling to know that I can quickly clean my floors and then get back to eating those bon bons.
