I've had a Swiffer Wet Jet in my home for the past 3 years. I've used it to clean the linoleum in the kitchen, the linoleum in the bathroom, and the hardwood throughout the rest of the house. Since we bought our Scooba I've certainly used the Wet Jet less but I wouldn't want to go without one. When my 3-year old Wet Jet mop broke last week, I went right out and bought another one.
The Swiffer Wet Jet is a nifty little device that you can use to clean tile, vinyl/linoleum, and sealed wood floors. It consists of a metal handle, a plastic bottle of cleaner, a disposable mop pad, and a scrubbing strip. When you set the mop up, you'll need to supply your own batteries but everything else is included. (Obviously, you'll want to buy extra cleaner and mop pads since the starter kit doesn't come with much.) Swiffer makes a couple of different cleaner formulas: all surfaces, hardwood, and antibacterial. In my experience, they all work exactly the same so I usually just buy the 3-pack of all surface cleaner from BJ's.
To use this mop, you simply press the button on the handle to spray cleaning solution onto the floor. It sprays in a half-circle and reaches about a foot or foot and a half (depending on battery strength) in front of the Wet Jet. Then you simply move the mop back and forth to pick up the dirt and excess cleaning solution. The mop pad is pretty absorbent but you may have to wait a couple of minutes before walking on freshly-cleaned floors to allow them to completely dry.
This product is great at removing regular dirt, mud, spills, etc. It even works well on fresh parrot poop. (Is that too much info?) The Swiffer Wet Jet isn't so good at removing dried stains like smashed blueberries, puppy poop, dried bird poop, etc. There's a scrubbing strip that you can use to try to remove tough marks but it's no match for dried material. This mop is no replacement for really getting down on your hands and knees and scrubbing the floor then you have to but it's great for a fast touch-up.
The Wet Jet can get expensive to use over time because you have to constantly buy cleaning solution and mop pad refills. I don't use it as much as I used to since we bought the Scooba (which is WAY more expensive than this mop) but I keep it around to touch up the hardwood, the linoleum around the puppy crates, and the vinyl around the birds cages and in the bathroom. It's easy to use and very convenient for quick once-overs.
