I'm not the world's most conscientious homeowner when it comes to cleaning chores. I run the Roomba and Scooba in the afternoon when I get home from work, I scoop out litter boxes, and I change the papers in the parrot cages. Eventually I get around to the dishes, counters, and bathroom... The dusting component of cleaning the house tends to be entirely forgotten and avoided when I do remember it, because I don't want to deal with the precipitation that rains down on me as I dust the house. Enter the Swiffer Duster.
The Swiffer Duster consists of a reusable and adjustable plastic handle to which you attach the disposable dusting cloth. The cloth is designed to trap particles rather than sweep them into the air in the manner of a feather duster. I've dusted a ceiling fan after 6 months of neglect. The fan blades had at least an inch of debris, but the Swiffer Duster managed to collect and contain all of the dirt, even when I cleaned the fan directly over our bed. I was sure that I would have to change the sheets and comforter, but there was no visible "fallout". It really does a nice job of collecting dirt and dust with very little effort.
For a cleaning slacker like myself, they are incredibly easy and painless to use. The original setup costs about $7 and the refills are about the same for 10+ dusing cloth refills. I think the Swiffer Duster is a great product, but I would like to see them produce a reusable dusting cloth so I don't have to keep buying refills. The Swiffer Duster isn't the cheapest cleaning product out there, but it is perfect for my situation. Recommended!
