I despise dust.  A lot.  So I'm always on the lookout for products that will help me keep my home dust-free.  When I saw the Swiffer Duster commercial featuring a woman dancing around a house (which wasn't her house) happily dusting away, I knew that I wanted to try it.  Well, after two tries, it's sitting unused in my hall closet.

My first problem with the Swiffer Duster was that the disposable dusting cloth repeatedly fell off of the plastic handle.  I tried another dusting cloth and had the same problem.

Secondly, the handle isn't very long and is flimsy.  If my kids got a hold of it (it would be fair game for a light saber), I have no doubt that they would break it.

Lastly, I wasn't impressed with how the Swiffer Duster cleaned up the dust in my house.  I have a lamb's wool duster that does just as well of a job, if not better.  Why should I bother spending money on (expensive) disposable dusting cloths that will only end up in a landfill when I can use my lamb's wood duster instead?

I really wish that the Swiffer Duster dancing lady would come to my house and just take the darn duster away.

When she takes your duster away, she's welcome to come to my house and dust. My kids would probably turn it into a magic wand and twirl dust around the house! Thanks for the info in the review.

In response to LadyMagic's comment from Sep 25, 2008 at 9:47PM:

My mother gave me the lamb's wool duster as a Christmas gift one year. It seemed kind of strange at the time but I love it now. It works better than my other duster and is easy to clean.

Saw this in Walmart yesterday but decided to think about it. Glad I waited. I agree about the landfill. How long have you been using a lamb's wool duster? Good review.

I like this product but I'll agree that I would rather buy that babe who likes to dust and lock her in my place for a week!

Thank you for the warning against this product. That lady can dance on over here, when she is done at your house. LOL
