All my life I've been dusting the surfaces in my home using a damp rag. That's how my mom did it so that's how I did it. It was kind of a messy job and not the most effective method but it's what I knew so it's what I did.
Then last year a bunch of gals on an online forum where I post were talking about products they love and many of them were talking about this thing called a Swiffer Duster. Well I'm not a big fan of wipes and disposable things as I think they are wasteful but everyone was raving about them so I bought a trial package and gave them a try. And I could kick myself in the butt for not trying them sooner. I love Swiffer Dusters. So much that I went to Costco and got like a gross of them so I'll never run out.
It's so easy to just cram the handle into the pockets on the duster pads then shake it around a little so that the fluffy dusting arms puff out and it's ready to work with. I no longer have to walk around the house with a wet rag, a bucket of water, and a towel to dry off the surfaces I've cleaned. Now I just grab my Swiffer Duster and get to work right away. The dust is trapped in the duster and leaves the surfaces clean and dust free and I don't have to go back and dry anything.
And since it's small and skinny I can dust in small, tight places that used to be a royal pain in the neck. Places like the tiny spaces between the canes in the back of my dining room chairs. Or the holes in a wooden wine rack. Or hard to reach places like the top of the armoire in my living room.
It used to take me about 2 hours to dust my house but now it takes about 15 minutes to Swifferize it and that makes me a happy, happy chick as I can use that time doing more exciting things. Although Swifferizing is actually kind of fun.
I have to use two dusters to do my whole house and the throw away aspect of it does still kind of bother me but I've gotten over it because it saves me so much time.
5 stars!
