Sweet Home Alabama Review Summary

A favorite Reese Witherspoon movie of many Viewpoints reviewers is Sweet Home Alabama. While some consider this to be "a sweet movie that men and women will love," others see it as a chick flick. Witherspoon stars as an underprivileged girl from Alabama who makes it as a New York fashion designer and has to somehow get a divorce from her high school sweetheart without her new beau in NYC finding out. The other stars in Sweet Home Alabama are a big draw as well, Patrick Dempsey, Josh Lucas, and Candace Bergen. Reviewers also enjoyed the soundtrack that features Avril Lavigne, Sheryl Crow, and Dolly Parton. Witherspoon fans looking for a more seroius film would enjoy her role in Walk the Line, which won her an Oscar.

Reese Witherspoon, Patrick Dempsey and Josh Lucas play in Sweet Home Alabama.

Plot: Southern belle Melanie has made a sweet life for herself in New York as a clothes designer. She's asked to be married by her charming boyfriend but there's only one hitch; she's already hitched to her high school sweetheart back home. Now Melanie has to go down south to try to get her stubborn husband to divorce her so she can get married and have the life she's always dreamed of and worked so hard for.

Reese is 'Sweet' in this chick flick

Sweet Home Alabama has a great cast and gets at issues that everyday people struggle with... nasty in-laws, reconnecting with your roots, getting caught up in your own life, etc.

The Cast.
Reese Witherspoon. Enough said. She is adorable. And, who doesn't love Patrick Dempsey? He is among my favorite male stars to look at. And Josh Lucas isnt too bad either. He is a down home nice guy. Candice Bergen is always the perfect nasty mother-in-law.

A sweet movie that men and women will love

not rich, character-lover, a bargain hunter, married, Sci-Fi fan, Every day computer user, a pet owner, love chick flicks

This movie is one of the ones that I own that my husband will set down and watch it with me. He enjoys the fact that it mostly takes place in the deep south. It has some history in it to keep the men folk happy...lol! But all joking aside It is a very good comedy that well make any man or woman have a fun time watching and not feel like it was a total waste of his or her time. Reese is very good in this movie and so is the man that plays her husband (hes cute to...lol) Take my word for it you will enjoy it very much.

I just absolutely loved this moovie. It made me laugh and cry. If you like a good love story, you will love this southern gem. My favorite line is --just why would you want to marry me? so i can kiss you anytime I want to. I would love to see a sequal to this moovie. I have watched it over and over many times and plan to watch it many more

Sweet Home Alabama is a wonderful movie and to me seems like its based on actual life events that everyday people deal with, in laws, divorce, decisions, life in general. Couldn't have chosen a better set of actors and actresses to play in this movie. Love Reese Witherspoon and Josh Lucas.

I enjoyed this movie. I am a big Chick Flick Girl, This movie is one of my favorites. It also has some nice eye candy in it too. I would suggest this for anyone who wants to cuddle up and fallin in love.

Interesting story, two good guys, how to choose? Wonderful soundtrack, listen to it all the time in the car. Also like the glass sculptures.
