Sweet Home Alabama Review Summary

A favorite Reese Witherspoon movie of many Viewpoints reviewers is Sweet Home Alabama. While some consider this to be "a sweet movie that men and women will love," others see it as a chick flick. Witherspoon stars as an underprivileged girl from Alabama who makes it as a New York fashion designer and has to somehow get a divorce from her high school sweetheart without her new beau in NYC finding out. The other stars in Sweet Home Alabama are a big draw as well, Patrick Dempsey, Josh Lucas, and Candace Bergen. Reviewers also enjoyed the soundtrack that features Avril Lavigne, Sheryl Crow, and Dolly Parton. Witherspoon fans looking for a more seroius film would enjoy her role in Walk the Line, which won her an Oscar.

Sweet Home Alabama has a great cast and gets at issues that everyday people struggle with... nasty in-laws, reconnecting with your roots, getting caught up in your own life, etc. — The Cast. — Reese Witherspoon. Enough said. She is adorable. And, who doesn't love Patrick Dempsey? He is among my favorite male stars to look at. And Josh Lucas isnt too bad either. He is a down home nice guy. This movie is one of the ones that I own that my husband will set down and watch it with me. He enjoys the fact that it mostly takes place in the deep south. It has some history in it to keep the men folk happy...lol! But all joking aside It is a very good comedy that well make any man or woman have a fun time watching and not feel like it was a total waste of his or her time. I just absolutely loved this moovie. It made me laugh and cry. If you like a good love story, you will love this southern gem. Sweet Home Alabama is a wonderful movie and to me seems like its based on actual life events that everyday people deal with, in laws, divorce, decisions, life in general.
