Sweet Home Alabama Review

Sweet Home Alabama has a great cast and gets at issues that everyday people struggle with... nasty in-laws, reconnecting with your roots, getting caught up in your own life, etc.

The Cast.
Reese Witherspoon. Enough said. She is adorable. And, who doesn't love Patrick Dempsey? He is among my favorite male stars to look at. And Josh Lucas isnt too bad either. He is a down home nice guy. Candice Bergen is always the perfect nasty mother-in-law.

Underprivileged girl makes it big 
Melanie Carmichael, a girl from the trailers in Alabama, has made it big. She is an adored New York fashion designer and is engaged to the city's most eligible bachelor (Patrick Demsey).  Of course, his mother, Candice Bergen is not a fan of Melanie and believes she has demons in her closet.

And, what a surprise, she does!
Melanie's past holds many secrets, including Jake, the redneck husband she married in high school. Who, by the way, refuses to divorce her. And, did I happen to mention that Patrick Dempsey doesnt even know she was married in high school?

Journey of Self Discovery
Bound and determined to end her secret marraige once and for all, Melanie heads home to Alabama to get the divorce papers signed. While there, she realizes that she misses the south, misses her husband and that her heart really is in Alabama. Patrick Demsey is kicked to the curb and Candice Bergen gets her way.

Bottom Line: Sweet Home Alabama is a feel good movie. Definitely worth a watch.
