Most HelpfulDuring a hike, my youngest son somehow got Poison Ivy on his face. I took him to the doctor and he was prescribed medication and it cleared up quickly. My oldest son ended up getting it too but, his was on his thighs and the doctor said there was no need to see him. She told me to go to the pharmacy...

Most HelpfulSwan's Calamine Lotion is a product that every household should have in the medicine cabinet. It is great for relieving itching due to allergic reactions to poisen oak and ivy and other things outdoors. I have sensitive skin and never know when something is going to break me out. My husband is allergic to flea bites and Swan Calamine Lotion works quickly to take away the itch.
Swan Calamine Lotion comes in several different size bottles. I usually keep a small bottle of 2 or 4 ounces at home because it will dry up if stored too long. The medication is a pink liquid formula that is easy...
review »Several years ago, I've also been covered with Poison Ivy blisters. And not just one part of my body... what wouldn't be that bad in comparison... but my whole body. It happened, because I've been so eager to clean out our old barn in the country, that hasn't been touched for decades and had different types of weeds all over the place. I didn't know, that it was the Poison Ivy ( pure ignorance on my part, that's for sure). I didn't want to go to the doctor, because for that reason we would have to return home, to Dallas, and it would interrupt all our plans. Therefore, we had to grasp for any...
review »Swan Calamine Lotion has been around a long time. I can remember when I was little my mother covering me with it when I had poison ivy. It soothes the itch and makes it more bearable. Calamine Lotion is something everyone should always have on hand in their medicine cabinets. It's so affordable which is great, so almost anyone can afford it. Some over the counter treatments are so expensive.
I also used it on my kids for chicken pox, rashes, and when they got into poison ivy too.
I love that it has no smell, although you can clearly see it on your skin.
Its inexpensive and works great.
Those limbs my husband was cutting down turned out to be posion ivy! Who knew? It's a good thing I had this product on hand. Ever since my husband got chicken pox several years ago, I've kept calamine lotion handy. This stuff is a lifesaver! It soothes instantly, and keeps the itchiness at bay. And it's cheap! Been around forever too. I remember my Mother putting it on me when I was a little girl with chicken pox too!
You can find this product EVERYWHERE. It goes on pink, and stays pink. That's the only con I can think of. They should make it where it disappears or is white. ...
review »The Swan calamine lotion brand has been a fixture in our medicine cabinet now for years as it has been a lifesaver when someone in the family happens to come across a nasty case of poison ivy. The lotion definitely is a lifesaver and soothes itchy skin and helps scabs heal over quickly so that infection will not set in. The product is also very helpful when you have multiple bug bites all over your legs. I would recommend to quickly apply the product as soon as the problem begins so that healing time is minimized. The lotion itself sometimes leaves residue around the area if it is not fully...
review »Wow, this stuff has been around forever and still tops the list of effective home treatments for poison ivy, oak, and sumac, as well as a thousand and one other small injuries or conditions kids and parents encounter through camping, gardening, or even just a hike.
With allergic reactions so widespread, keeping a bottle of calamine lotion is always a great idea, but some stores charge around $5 for a bottle. Swan is just as good and costs a fraction of that no matter where you find it. I am glad companies like Swan still offer a reasonable price for their very excellent products. They...
review »The Swan calamine lotion is an inexpensive, affordable way to treat your itchy problems. My son is allergic to mosquito bites, bugs bites and just about every other bug out there that butes. He becomes very irritated, red and itchy. We always reach for the swan calamine lotion (he always asks for the pink itch stuff) and within minutes of applying, he is itch free. This is probably one of the easiest ways to alleviate itchy skin from bug bites, to poison ivy to even an itchy rash, This is an affordable, lasting lotion that has been around for many, many years. There isn't much of an odor...
review »Swan Calamine Lotion works great for those occasional bug bites or rashes. I have two bottles of this in the medicine cabinet at all times. We take this camping with us when we go. My kids don't even mind being pink all over, because this works so well. My boys are forever getting into itch weed or poison ivy and have been coated in Swan Calamine Lotion and it stops the itching and stops the speading of it as well. This is inexpensive medicine to use and can be bought just about anywhere. I recommend this to any parent with active kids.
Swan Calamine Lotion is great for the itchies! We are a very active family, and poision ivy got us! So, we used the Swan Calamine Lotion, worked great! It is easily applied and you can see where you are putting it. It covers us the itch area making it fun for the kids.
Calamine will help relieve my kids itch. I don't know if it makes the bite heal quicker, but I know for sure the kids don't itch it when the lotion is on. Whether it is mosquito or flea bites it helps relieve the itch.
