I have to be the first to admit that I like my comedy with edge holding nothing back leaving all bets off. Be it a dark comedy or one full vile humor that makes me laugh myself to pieces my taste in funny is limitless.
Growing up......who does not remember that trying and difficult time of wanting to fit in, find your way, and filling your life with good friends along the way.Produced by Judd Apatow and co-written by Seth Rogen--both of 40 Yr Old Virgin and Knocked Up fame--Superbad takes you to the coming of age antics of geeks Seth (Jonah Hill) and Evan (Michael Cera formally of Arrested Development fame) as the try to have that one last blast of fun before college and have their first (real) chance at the opposite sex.
Seth and Evan attempt to use their friend Fogell (Christopher Mintz-Plasse) and his obviously fake ID to buy alcohol for a party which goes horribly wrong (naturally). The cops (Rogen and Bill Hader) on duty show up and the evening quickly turns into a hilarious mess of misunderstandings, crackhead sing-alongs, and beer. For me it's hard to say who is the standout in this movie but characters Seth, Fogell, and the cops manage to steal every scene they are in......sometimes stealing them from one another. This is crude humor at it's best complete with a (somewhat) tender ending.
The unrated edition comes with two disc's and is loaded with extras worth checking out like outtakes, deleted and extended scenes (some of which should have been left in the movie). BOY am I sorry I waited so long to see this one!
