Bought and used this $479 supposedly state of the art heater for one season. It is now working about 1/4 as good. Called the distributor and he said it was my responsibility to ship it to them to be fixed. There is a 3 year parts and labor, but they neglect to tell you, you have to pay for it to be shipped back. At $479 just how much is this heater going to cost me. I'll be without a heater AND is this going to happen every year. What happens when the warranty. My suggestion is don't buy this. They only have a 2 week return policy on this heater. They must not have much confidence in it either. The person I talked to was rude and could care less about their inferior product. Buyer beware. Sunheat.

I've had my Sunheat 1500 for two months now. Works fine as advertised - supplemental heat to maintain temperatures in freezing temps. See more details and my review here: http://www.squidoo.com/sunheatheater

The 1500W is a super overpriced piece of junk. If you live in a one-room apt. it would do the job. They advertised 1/4 page ad in our paper stating it does not use more electric than a coffee pot. Fraudulent. It said the 1500 heats 1100 sq ft. Fraudulent. We used it one week. Tried to return it. Dealer said sales final...no return. What store doesn't return? Sunheat. We are seniors on a fixed income and have been fleeced. DO NOT FALL FOR THIS AD.

For GreenThumb to say that he has had his Sunheat heater for over 20 years is just not true. The Sunheat heater is a knockoff of the EdenPure and neither of these heaters have been in production
for the past 20 years. I would like to see a picture of the 20 year old "SunHeat" heater.

I bought a Sunheat heater from a dealer in Missouri and I have had no problems with it what so ever. Where I bought it they work on it right in the store and I don't have to ship it off at all! They fixed the fan switch that broke in one day and had it back in my house =)

VERY SATISFIED with Sunheat. Make sure it's an authorized dealer before youbuy!

I have a Sunheat and love it. I bought it because of the high cost of propane. I live in the mountains and only stay here 6 months out of the year. Before I got my Sunheat heater I paid over $200.00 a month in propane cost to keep my pipes from freezing. Last year my electric bill for the coldest month was less than $80.00 and that is a big savings. Only problem is that my trailer is 65 feet long and 16 wide so I really need two of them, which I will get eventually. I mainly love it because it is safe.

GreenThumb's comments are odd: The reviewer, buzzie, did not say that the heat tubes went out., yet Green Thumb makes a speech about how easy it is to fix them, and that a customer won't be charged to have the parts shipped to them.

For all we know, buzzie's heater has an electrical problem or some other issue that the manufacturer would need to physically repair on the unit. Green Thumb conveniently ignored the issue that buzzie needs service under the warranty and was told he has to pay to ship the unit back to the manufacturer. I am sure if the problem were as simple as changing the heat tubes, buzzie would have been informed of that when he called the manufacturer, and they would have told buzzie that the necessary parts and instructions would be shipped to him, free of charge.

Green Thumb introduced a simple maintenance issue (basically, changing a light bulb) to steer the conversation away from the fact that buzzie needs to pay to ship the unit to the manufacturer, even though the unit is under warranty.

GreenThumb seems to love this product, and almost sounds like a sales rep or company owner for it. I wonder if that is because the makers of Sunheat are located in Nebraska, and GreenThumb also happens to be located in Nebraska. GreenThumb has made one comment on this board, and it just happens to be about this product. Coincidental?

Also, this product is sold out of hotel rooms. I came upon this review because I saw a flyer in today's paper that they will be in my area for "one day only!" If the product is so great, why is it advertised on insert fliers in local newspapers listing the hotel location and date/time, rather than through mass distribution chains such as WalMart, Home Depot, Lowes, etc?

You should provide a review as well. Hopefully your insights will help this reviewer get the service they deserve!

Actually there is no cost to have parts sent to you and anyone that is "at all" mechanically inclined can change the heat tubes. The heater must have been "bumped" pretty good for the lights to go out. These heaters last for over 20 years, I know because I've had one that long and the return policy is 60 days, not two weeks. I love my Sunheat heater and the question is not how much will it cost you, but how much money it will save you for many years down the road compared to your other heat source!
