Given to me as a joke, the jokes on her, I love it.
I am the youngest of four kids, with my oldest sister being 16 years older than me. She was young when women ironed everything and to this day still irons most of her clothes. I was raised with permanent press clothes and never took to ironing anything. We use to tease each other and joke about our lack of, and overabundance of wrinkles in our clothes. Last year for Christmas, my sister thought it would be funny to gift me with an iron. So she did. When I opened my gift it was a Sunbeam Steam iron. We laughed about it and I brought it home and set it on the shelf. One day as I was washing and drying some new Egyptian linen dish towels, they came out of the dryer a wrinkled mess. I couldn't even begin to fold them, they were that wrinkled. So, out came my shiney, never been used Sunbeam Steam iron. Much to my delight that iron smoothed out those wrinkles like they were butter on a hot griddle. I was amazed how nice they looked and how soft they felt when I was done. So you'd think that I would have put that iron back on the shelf and be done with it? Heck no! I was so pleased with the look and feel of those towels , I went looking for something else to iron. Long story short, I now use my Sunbeam Steam iron all the time. I love to see my husband's dress shirts nice and crisp, and with the steam setting I can achieve that look and feel for his shirts easy peasy. I have even started ironing my jeans. This iron has transformed me. I love it and the results I get with it. Now I tease my sister all the time about how my steam ironed clothes are much easier done than hers. I told her that if she was nice to me, I'd buy her a Sunbeam Steam iron for her birthday. And, I think I really will. She deserves an iron that does such a good job so easy and quick. Performance It performs beautifully removing wrinkles and leaving pressed items crisp and smart looking. Safety With the auto shut off, this iron prevents any accidents due to leaving it on by mistake. Ease of Cleaning A damp cloth is all that is needed to clean any residue from it's surface. I sometimes dampen a wash cloth and then iron it after using spray starch on something I ironed. Ease of Use Very light and it has a comfortable handle. When I turn it on, it heats quickly. Heat settings are clearly marked and the steam/no steam switch is simple to turn on and off. Durability Have only had mine for about 5-6 months, but it appears to be well constructed. Design All of the settings are clearly marked, the steam water reservoir is easy to fill, and the auto shut off is a design feature that every iron should have.
