Sunbeam Mr. Coffee TM1 Iced Tea Maker, 2 quart Review

We drink a lot of iced tea in my house, so when I found out there was a small appliance dedicated to brewing it, I researched the available options and bought this one. I'm really glad I did, since I use it multiple times each week. My Mr. Coffee-brand tea maker has been going strong for over two years now, and I like the ease of use. Pour in the water, add the tea to the brewing basket and push the start button. Simple.

Of course, having a dedicated appliance means no more brewing tea with the coffee maker and having that yucky coffee-flavored tea. And I never did like messing about with boiling the water, adding the tea, setting the timer, waiting for it to cool, then pouring it into a pitcher. With this appliance, you get cool, freshly brewed, ready-to-drink iced tea in minutes. 

I like the small footprint of this appliance, and the height is the same as our coffee maker, meaning that it fits under our cabinet on the counter, but we have to pull it out to add the water. The "CYA" instructions tell you not to wash the pitcher or brewing basket in the dishwasher, but I've been doing it since I bought it without any problems at all. The tea maker brews a two-quart pitcher of tea in about the same amount of time it takes to brew a pot of coffee (stands to reason, I guess).

It's not required, but I would recommend that you use a coffee filter when brewing to eliminate the tiny tea leaf residue that can pass through from the brewing process and find its way to the bottom of the pitcher. It ensures that the last glass of tea is clear (good to the last drop, you might say). I would recommend the Mr. Coffee two-quart iced tea maker to anyone who drinks a lot of iced tea and wants a simple little appliance to make it fast and easy to keep the iced tea pitcher full.
