We have the Queen size version of the Sunbeam Electric Blanket with Dual Controls, which was originally purchased for our 5th Wheel Travel Trailer for camping in the winter. Since we moved to the new house that doesn’t have central heating or furnaces, I decided to “borrow” the Sunbeam Electric Blanket with Dual Controls so I am assured that I stay warm at night.
Sunbeam Electric Blanket with Dual Controls
This blanket was actually a hand-me-down from my mother in law. She found the blanket in a closet and asked the kids if anyone wanted it. It wasn’t claimed, so my husband said that we could use it in our camper. This blanket comes in twin, full, queen and king size and retails from $49.99 to $79.99, depending on the size. Our blanket is a maroon color and another reason it was designated to be used in the camper. It didn’t match any of my bedrooms. Right now I don’t care if it matches or not, I just want to stay warm at night.
We have only dipped to the freezing mark for a couple of nights, but this blanket has come in handy even with lows in the mid to high 30’s. We usually do not have such cold weather so early in the year, so the freezing temperatures took everyone by surprise this year. Actually, we are in the middle of a cold front currently so this blanket will get a lot of use in the next couple of nights with temperatures in the high 20’s and low 30’s for several nights in a row.
Pros
What is really nice about the Sunbeam Electric Blanket with Dual Controls is the dual controls. If you have a partner that has a body temperature higher or lower than yours, you can both remain comfortable throughout the night with this blanket. There is a control for each side of the bed and the settings are easy to understand. The dial goes from high to low with levels in between marked with notches in the dial.
The blanket puts out a lot of heat. We have tried to use it on just “chilly” nights in the high 50’s, only to have to turn the blanket completely off. So far, we have mainly used it on low to medium settings. Since both my husband and I are both usually hot natured, we haven’t ventured to try it on high.
The blanket is soft to the touch and very comfortable to add to your bedding for winter months. It is made out of an acrylic and polyester blend.
Another factor that I like about this blanket is that it is machine washable and dryable. This saves on a cleaning bill to send it to the laundry.
Cons
The only con that I have notices with this blanket is that you need to make sure you have the blanket turned on the right side when hooking the controls into place. We had the blanket reversed when we first put it on our bed and my husband kept complaining that he was hot. His control was set on low and it was only until he turned it off and several hours later that he discovered that our controls were switched. I remained comfortable and was a bit annoyed that we had to get up and flip the blanket on the other side and remake the bed in the middle of the night.
If you are hot natured, you may want to pass on this blanket. It puts out a good bit of heat and it may be too much for you if you are not used to a lot of covers or heat. I find that we turn it on only on those nights with freezing temperatures, otherwise it is just too warm.
Materials
Made from 80% Acrylic and 20% Polyester
Recommendation
I highly recommend the Sunbeam Electric Blanket with Dual Controls to anyone that is sleeping in a bed with another person. You can both be comfortable and happy with your own control and setting. Don’t be miserable—or worse yet cold, go buy a Sunbeam Electric Blanket with Dual Controls and stay warm all night long!
