We bought this monitor when our child transitioned to a bed from a crib. We used a Graco digital monitor for the first 2 years and that worked fine with the occasional beeping due to interference. We have a wireless internet system and a 6.0 DECT cordless phone. We also had a 2.4 Ghz analog cordless phone. Right away we set up the Summer Infant video monitor in the room along with old Graco digital monitor. We had a lot of static and interference. We still experienced static and interference when we moved the Graco monitor out of the room. We planned to use the Summer Infant video monitor in the older child's room and the old Graco digital monitor in the new baby's room so we wanted to test them together. It was worst around the 2.4 Ghz phone so we got rid of the phone immediately. The static and interference went on for a week. We then replaced the Graco digital monitor with an older monitor (2 years), Safety First 49 MHz technology, 400 ft range monitor. We had this at grandparents house. This combination seems to work great! No more BEEP BEEP BEEP. Static only when we use the 2.4 Ghz cordless phone. We will probably just get rid of that phone. It cost us $5. The picture quality on the Summer Infant screen is fine. At night, it's sometimes hard to find child. Luckily child has darker colored hair so child stands out on screen in black and white. Otherwise it may be difficult to locate child in bed. We also recommend mounting the camera up higher to gain a better aerial view of the bed. Our child moves around a lot in bed. We can't comment yet about the battery life. We mostly keep it plugged in. The cheaper monitors seem to work just fine. Digital monitor was clearer but we seemed to get more interference. And digital monitors are all about no interference from technology etc...We are surrounded by neighbors baby monitors and we get no interference. Maybe I should ask them if they her us...We are happy thus far (after one month) with the Summer Infant color video monitor as well as the combination of using it with a low priced 49 Mhz monitor for 2nd kid.
