Most HelpfulAfter 10 months of using the monitor, it still works as well as it did the day we bought it.
We use it in the morning when we are getting dressed so we can keep an eye on him as we go upstairs and downstairs.
We use it when we are in the garage and he is in his crib.
We always feel like we have a nanny watching him.
The sound clarity is clear and the visual image is clear even at night.
The monitor comes with various volumes and you can attach it to your hip and walk around the house.
Great device to settle the mind of a protective parent.
After much research and debate, we finally chose the Summer Infant Day & Night Handheld Color Video Monitor with 1.8" Screen because of the following features: color monitor with "night vision" capability; on/off button that allowed us to turn off the video screen and sound, but still have LED lights to alert us; and the ability to add a second camera (2-channel system). While using this equipment, we were satisfied with the additional features such as a rechargable battery, belt clip and kickstand, which let me move the monitor around the house as needed.
Overall, we found the sound...
review »At first we didn't think we needed a baby manotor so we didn't get one. After all, the baby was sleeping in his bassinet in our room right next to our bed for the first 5 months. When we decided to transition him into his nursery, it became obvious that we would need a moniot. We did some reserach on line, looked at the Baby Bargains book, went to Babies R US and I spoke to some mom knews I knew. with that info we went back to Babies R Us and told them the 3 monitors we were considering. The associate suggested the Summer Infant Handheld - as did 99 percent of my mommy friends on my parenting...
review »I was given the Summer Infant Day and Night handheld color video monitor as a shower gift and I am so glad that I received this. I am a first time Mom, so with that comes the nervousness about your child so being able to see my son while he was in his crib is fantastic. I've delt with other monitors that aren't video and you just never know what the noise is that you hear on the monitor. If you hear something on the Summer Infant monitor, you can just look at the screen and see what your little one is doing. The fact that it is made for both day and night is fantastic because it's nice...
review »The Summer Infant Day & Night Handheld Color Video Monitor is one item I always recommend to a parent-to-be and one I wouldn't have wanted to go without those first few months with a new baby. The monitor is easily portable, with a decent range so you don't feel like you're tethered to the camera. The picture is fairly clear, with an impressive night vision so you can see your child both day and night. It's perfect for checking in on your newborn, and also quite useful for checking in on a naughty toddler who won't stay in his bed! The charge lasts quite a while so you don't need to worry...
review »Day & Night Handheld Color Video Monitor is perhaps a lifesaver. We did not have one with our first child, but we did have one with our second! truly a relief to not have to climb the stairs at every whimper. Plus our bedroom was on the main floor, and the kids were upstairs. No interference from our regular monitor, in our eldests's room.
The battery after six months does not last as long as far as keeping it away from the plug, but you can take it with you. it was super easy to set up and the picture is incredible. it is awesome to be able to watch her play ing the morning and know she's ok....
review »I have the summer day and night video monitor. It seemed pricy at first but it is well worth it to be able to see my baby while she is sleeping, and see what she is doing. The camera was very easy to install. I love how the video monitor is handheld. It is portable and you can carry it around the house with you wherever you are so that you can always see your baby. There is night vision on it too so you can see your baby very well at night. The screen is very clear and very easy to see. It also has good sound and not much static electricity. The only problem that I have had is that when another...
review »This Summer Infant Day and Night handheld color monitor is a must have. I was very skeptical about spending so much money on a baby monitor. I thought the TV style black and white video monitors would be fine. This monitor has changed my mind. The portability of the handheld monitor is great and the range is terrific! I can go to my next door neighbor's house and still see and hear him clearly. I also love that it doesn't have to be plugged in which allows me to do outdoor chores while still keeping my eye on the baby. It also has a battery saver that turns off the video after a few...
review »We purchased the Summer Infant Day and Night Handheld color video monitor because we thought it would be nice to be able to actually see the baby. We live in a two story townhouse and decided that if the baby was going to be upstairs napping it would be a big hassle to have to run up and down every time we wanted to peek in on her. This seemed like the best solution for our family! So far it's been great. I really like how you can place the camera anywhere. It's really small and compact and can pretty much be set anywhere. We move it around all the time. The monitor itself is a good size. The picture...
review »I love the Summers Infant color video monitor. I am very glad that we got the monitor with the larger screen on it. It is great to be able to see what your baby is doing. If she is playing then we can just watch her without her even knowing. The infared option is great for night time viewing as well. It doesn't light up the room at all but it is very easy to see what is going on in the room. The monitor has the option of having two cameras that you can use with just one hand held unit in case you have two children or want to put one in a play room. The clarity and the sound are great. We have not...
