This monitor is great!  My daughter is 18 months old and the monitor (which we've had since she was born) is going strong.  The video gives me such peace of mind.  Also, having the video keeps me from disturbing her.  There are times where she makes sounds that would cause me to go check on her if I didn't have the video to see that she is rolling over and going back to sleep on her own.  We love this monitor so much that we are about to buy a second one for our baby that is due in April.  The sound detector is super sensitve and when your little one's room is dark the color display automaticly switches to night vision.
