The Summer Infant Day and Night Monitor is overall a good buy.  I love the way that it has night vision and you can see and hear very well.  The monitor works well in my small one story house but I took in to my parents when travelling and going from the basement to upstairs was a stretch - you could not hear well over the static.  Also when the batteries begin to die the picture goes and the static gets worse.  After you plug it back in and recharge it is ready to go again.  I LOVE not getting up to check but KNOWING that the baby is breathing and has not rolled himself into an uncomfortable position.  Being a first time parent I want to know that he is okay all the time.
