I have three children, ages 6 1/2, 3 3/4 (trust me that is important) and 3 months. During the week, I seem to spend a lot of time on the road and sometimes we need to stop for lunch. With the baby, I don't like to stop at places with a lot of children as I worry about her being exposed to colds and things.
One of my favorite (non-kid filled) choices is Subway. They serve sandwiches - in kid size (about 4 inches), 6 inch and 12 inches as well as salads and soup. You can choose the bread, cheese, filling and condiments which allow everyone to get their own fresh made lunch!
My three favorite things about Subway are -
1. The many choices. I don't eat red meat and am glad there are multiple other choices I can eat. The have a wonderful chicken breast option, turkey, tuna and vegetarian to name a few. I like to get my sandwiches toasted and choose grated cheese so that it melts over the whole thing. The have a variety of vegetable from tomatoes to peppers to pickles so you get a sandwich made just as you like.
They also have a meal deal which use to be a drink and bag of chips or cookies but they have added some more healthy options. You can now get apple slices, yogurt, raisins or if you still want chips, they now have baked ones. Besides the pop, you can now choose milk (regular or chocolate), juice (orange or apple) or bottle water.
2. The kids meals. Each kids meal comes with a kid size sandwich, a drink and a side (from the list above) and a toy for around $3.50. I like that the kids can each pick what type of sandwich they want and then pick what they want on it. It is funny how much better they will eat, if they choose (and watch) how it is made! They enjoy having milk and apple slices with it and as a Mom, you can be satisfied with what they are eating.
3. The Subway Cards. For every dollar that you spend, you get a point on your Subway card. These points can be redeemed at any time, for FREE food. The amount of points varies from 10 points for a cookie to 75 for a free 12 inch sandwich! The points add up fast and it is always nice to get free food!
My two older kids would probably rather have a play area but usually we don't have much time for that anyway. With Subway, I can make a quick stop with my two younger ones while my oldest is in school or all five of us can stop by on the weekend. Whenever we go, I know that all of us will be be making healthy choices and be full when we leave!
