I Would Buy another one!
daily driver, Safety conscious, practical, interested in good gas mileage

This Forester has performed incredibly well, though it's a 2000, it was bought in 1999 so it's 8 years old.  The safety features really work.  I was rear ended at @least 45 mph by a flat bed tow truck and was not physically injured.  I was wearing my seat belt at the time.  All the safety features worked great!  It gets pretty good gas mileage for an all wheel drive.  It states 27 mpg hwy/ 28 mpg city.  Eight yrs later and I still get about 23 mpg in the city.  Highway can get close to 27 depending on traffic and whether or not I can use cruise control. There are hardly any blind spots. ... read full review »

I first test drove the 2000 Subaru Forester when in first came out that year.  Fell in love with how smooth and how well it handled, for an SUV, on curvy roads.  It drove just like a high end sedan.  5 years later, I purchased a used one.  It has come it very handy for camping (I can even sleep in it), for carrying my bicycle inside, and now for carrying my mom's wheelchair.  I was even able to fit and bring home my new dryer.  This is a do it all car!  Hopefully will be able to afford a new Subaru in the future.

This has been a great AWD vehicle.  The clock on these tend to go out and are outrageous to fix.  The factory tires only lasted about 16K miles- make them give you good tires if you purchase new.  Great in snow.  Not for very large people or more than 4 people in the car.  Goes through tires quickly.
