I'm not a fan!

from USA

Comments about Stubb's Original Bar-B-Q Sauce:

I figured I would give Stubb's Original Bar-B-Q Sauce a try. I am a huge fan of barbecue sauce in general, but I did not like this! I found it way too spicy and not sweet enough. The spices used were overwhelming and not very tasty. I marinated chicken in it and it was just too salty and not flavorful enough. Next time I will stick with the brands I know and love. I was highly disappointed.

Stubbs Original isn't the the type of BBQ sauce that I prefer.

Comments about Stubb's Original Bar-B-Q Sauce:

My all-time, absolute favorite BBQ sauce is [Cattlemen's Classic Barbeque Sauce][1] .  It's bold, spicy, peppery, hickory and just perfect.  The store I was shopping at was all out of Cattlemen's, so I decided to try this Stubb's BBQ sauce.  Well, I was quite disappointed that it didn't live up to my Cattlemen's, but it did get the job done.

**Stubb's Original BAR-B-Q Sauce **is made with all natural ingredients.  It is just one flavor of several that Stubb's makes including: spicy, mild and a few others.  Stubb's calls the original flavor, "A tangy mix of vinegar, tomato & black pepper."

My first taste of this BBQ sauce was not very good.  I am so used to my Cattlemen's that my natural reaction was to not like this sauce.  It's not that it's bad, it's just very different from what I'm used to.  First of all, this sauce is very thin and kind of runny, compared to my thick Cattlemen's.  The first thing I taste is vinegar, immediately followed by black pepper.  Two ingredients I love, but I think I want more in a BBQ sauce.  I want a little hickory, a *slight *sweetness, some spiciness and some vinegar.

While this sauce is very peppery, unfortunately, that's my favorite thing about it.  It's just too vinegary and doesn't have the right balance of flavors that I'm looking for.  While I love the all natural ingredients, I wouldn't buy the "original" flavor again.  I would however, try out their other flavors.  If you like Carolina style BBQ that has thin, vinegary BBQ sauces, you would probably enjoy this.

Stubb's - the best store bought barbecue sauce I've had.

Comments about Stubb's Original Bar-B-Q Sauce:

I like most barbecue sauces and switch around, because I've never found a bottled BBQ sauce that I really love. Now I've tried Stubb's Bar-B-Q sauce, and I must say that I won't be switching around all the time now. Stubb's really is a fabulous barbeque sauce.

Several years back I got some terrific barbecue sauce at a flea market in Murphy, North Carolina. The sauce dripped down on the homemade label, so I have not been able to find the sauce man again even with a trip back to Murphy and the flea market.

So, what does that have to do with Stubb's barbecue sauce?

Stubb's sauce is very similar to the home bottled sauce the guy sold in Murphy. It has a nice sweet taste followed by a spicy kick. I've never found that combination done well except the Murphy sauce and now Stubb's.

I couldn't believe it when I put Stubb's on some crock pot chicken. (Very easy. Put chicken in crock pot. Add favorite barbecue sauce. Dinner is done when you get home.) I figured it would be a decent dinner, but WOW! With the Stubb's barbecue sauce, this was some super chicken.

Stubb's is even better on the grill or smoker. Well, everything is better on the grill or smoker I say. But, this is a terrific brush on sauce. Just don't put it on at the beginning. You sauce during the last part, because sauce will burn if put on too early.

I do write on grilling and outdoor cooking (yes you can grill dot com) and play around with various rub and sauce recipes. Homemade is generally better (if you have time to make it), but I like Stubb's better than any of my mixes - so far.

My youngest son does not care for much spice at all, and he did find the kick a little too much. If you really do not like much spice at all, then this may not be the sauce for you. But, otherwise, Stubb's is really fabulous. I try barbecue sauces from all over, and this is my favorite. I'm hungry just thinking about Stubb's.
