Stori Telling —

It is with slight embarrassment that I admit to wanting to read sTori Telling when it was first published.  I had my share of obsessively watching 90210 for several years and also spent a small fortune on gossip magazines that told of Tori Spelling's extravagant lifestyle.  Like most closet 90210 fans, I was interested in getting the real scoop on one of Hollywood's most famous families.  However, I refused to buy the book (and contribute more wealth to Tori Spelling), so I had to wait my turn on the library list.

I was pleasantly surprised at how sTori Telling sucked me in.  I wasn't even halfway through the book when I found myself feeling compassion for someone fortunate enough (or so I thought) to be born into one of the wealthiest families in the United States (maybe even the world).

Tori tells her story in a funny and down-to-earth way and one can't help but like her.  She seems like the type of person you would meet up with for coffee and spend hours chatting away like best friends.

Tori owns up to the benefits of coming from a very wealthy family, but she also shows herself as a normal person who struggled with insecurity about her appearance and issues with her mother.  Tori is wise enough to not try to elicit sympathy from her readers, but to let them know that not all was grand growing up with a famous last name.  In fact, her last name was a hindrance to obtaining several acting jobs and furthering her career.

The most surprising (and sad) stories in sTori Telling, are the ones involving her mother.  It's a shame that Tori didn't have a supportive relationship with her mom while growing up and hopefully that has changed now.  Tori's story proves that money doesn't make you happy and that it can actually interfere with true happiness.

Even if you were not a 90210 fan or have pre-conceived notions about Tori Spelling, I think that you will like this book.  It's a fun and easy read and even if you do buy the book, you won't feel guilty about forking over a few bucks to Tori afterwards.

I heard this was a good book. I'll add this to my list of books to get and read. Thanks for sharing.

I always liked Tori's character (Donna) on 90210 because she was the wholesome girl--the pure one. I also liked the girl that played Adrienne. Sounds like a good book. I love to read bios so maybe I will come across it some day. Right now I'm reading another Princess Di book.

sounds like a fun read, and my hubby would be happy I wasn't reading only fiction!
