Stonyfield Farms may be most well known for it's Yo-Baby yogurt product with and without cereal.  I admit, this was my first introduction to the Stonyfield Farms product line, because after reading the labels on regular yogurt and my daughter hated baby cereal caused me to look for a nutritious alternative.

Stonyfield Farms products include the 32 ounce size yogurt's in:

  • Fat Free (Plain and French Vanilla;
  • Low Fat: (Plain Vanilla, Banilla and Strawberry); and
  • Whole Milk (Plain and French Vanilla).

Also among the Stonyfield Farms product lines are 6 ounce yogurt cups, smoothies, soy and Greek yogurts and yogurts for babies, pregnant and nursing mom's in a variety of flavors.

Facts about Stonyfield Farms Organic Yogurt:

  • Stonyfield Farms uses all natural and organic ingredients, even the cows are fed organic.
  • 9-10 grams of protein per serving
  • One serving is 35% of the daily RDA of calcium
  • Stonyfield products are created without any antibiotics, synthetic growth hormones, toxic pesticides, chemical fertilizers, genetically modified organisms and nothing artificial is used.
  • $3.89 per 32 ounce quart
  • Available at most grocery stores, Whole Foods and Natural Food Stores
  • Certified Kosher, Organic and vegetarian friendly
  • No artificial colors or sweeteners
  • Certified Gluten free
  • 10 % of profits given to efforts to protect the environment

In addition to the nutritious aspect of Stonyfield Farms Organic Yogurts, this company also makes several efforts to protect the environment such as:

  • using solar energy at their farms and creating resources to help other companies with their environmental efforts
  • give food to food banks
  • donated over $6 Million dollars to Profits for the Planet to help other environmental protection efforts.

The Stonyfield Farms website is full of environmental protection information, label and production information, what you can do to protect the environment, coupons, recipes and more.

My Viewpoint:

The Stonyfield Farms yogurts are delicious.  My baby daughters loved the Yo Baby brand products and I have found many uses for the low fat, fat free and whole milk products.  The whole milk products are great for my toddler child, and I can add fruits to it, changing it up to fit her mood.  The fat free and low fat flavors are great as sauces, marinades, smoothies, and a wonderfully flavorful alternative to sour cream (on baked potatoes or Mexican foods), mayonnaise, cream cheese and milk.  I recently used it in a spinach dip, as a marinade for chicken and mixed with granola for my breakfast.  It is also wonderfully tasty drizzled over a fruit salad.

It is also a great value, because the quart size containers provide more than the small 6 ounce containers of Yoplait and other name brand yogurts.  The containers also can be recycled, (if recycled they provide less trash than 6 ounce containers) or you can use them as your "build in Tupperware." Simply use a Sharpie marker and masking tape to indicate date on the outside of the container and you can store many leftovers and snacks.

This product is cost effective, nutritious, delicious, and versatile. You will be amazed by the number of ways you can use it once you purchase it.  It is organic and environmentally friendly.

Three recipes, try them yourself:

Yogurt dressing for Indian, Mediterranean and Greek Foods: One clove garlic crushed, sliced or chopped onion, and a sprinkle of ginger or paprika.

Mix Tandoori spice mix with 1 teaspoons each garlic paste, ginger paste and 3/4 cup yogurt. Marinade whole chicken and bake in oven as needed for the size chicken you have.

Big Blue Smoothie

1 cup blackberries frozen

1 1/2 cup blueberries frozen

1 cup Stonyfield Farm vanilla yogurt

1/2 cup grape juice

Combine in blender, puree on high until smooth.

Great review and thanks for the recipes. Not a yogurt eater either, but I try to use it when I can for the benefits it provides.

That's just it, I don't like yogurt, but like it when I sneak it into my foods!

Excellent review as usual. I try to eat yogurt though I don't really like it that well. I could get more into my diet with the smoothie recipe. Thanks! :)
