This school is definitely the place to go! IF you are looking for a state school I really suggest this one.
This school is more focused on the sciences but I was a non-science major and loved EVERY MINUTE OF IT!
The classes are VERY challenging for the most part and It's really makes you think. classes really keep you on top of your game.
Be careful, the classes could be huge (there is a 1,000 person lecture center). And a lot of times you need to seek out Professors.
As a non-dorming student it was challenging. When there is snow on Long Island my hour commute turned int 4 to 5 hours one way. The parking is bad sometimes. I usually parked a mile off campus everyday. But yes the do provide buses and there are some pretty nice bus drivers. Talk to some of them there are some pretty cool stories you hear. Classes can be difficult to get into when signing up for classes but most teachers will try to help you to get into the classes.
The school is affordable for the education you get.
If I could do it all over again I would NOT change anything I did. I loved it. The professors are amazing and they really have your best interest at heart.
Be warned there are a lot of students at SBU who don't want to be social. Sometimes you may have to make an effort to find social people.
KEEP TRACK OF EVERY CLASS YOU TAKE. Admin can mess up your course load and you can be screwed up for graduation!

I wish I could do my experience at SB all over again. I loved it there. I miss it dearly. I wish they would open a Law school and I'd go there in a heart beat.
