My husband and I recently stayed at the Stockholm Sheraton before heading off on a 7 night Baltic Sea cruise. Unfortunately the hotel is in the middle of renovations but we stayed in a newly renovated room so it was very nice. The only negative to this room was that the so called air conditioning didn't work very well so we slept with the window open every night. This seems to be a problem in most hotels in Europe since they usually don't need AC. The breakfast room had a great view and the food was very good.
We like to walk around when we travel so the location was great for this. The hotel is located right across the island of Gamla Stan (Old Town) with many shops and restaurants in this unique setting. Also we were just blocks away from catching a boat for a canal tour and only blocks away from their pedestrian shopping street. We were even withing a short walking distance of the Absolut Ice Bar and it was very safe to walk at night.
Also to be mentioned is the great gift shop that after shopping around I realized what good prices they have. Also we were able to purchase the Swedish glasses called Intermezzo at the best price I saw anywhere and the shipping was included so we didn't have to carry them around. They had other great bargains on Kosta Boda glass too.
I would highly recommend staying at this hotel after they are finished renovating!
