If you have room in your budget, the Step 2 Sand and Water Activity Center is well worth your money! We purchased ours on sale for $60 and even my frugal husband agrees that it was a smart purchase.
My handy husband said that it was easy to assemble, even with the "help" of two toddlers. The umbrella easily folds down and we store it out of the sun when not in use.
I really like that the kids stand up while playing with this instead of sitting down in a sandbox. This table is much bigger than our previous sandbox and with the sturdy cover, I don't have to worry about neighborhood critters getting inside of it during the night.
Our kids play with this for hours and never tire of it. The table is large enough to accomodate up to eight children so there is no fighting, other than "so-and-so took my boat and won't share the shovel," etc. Also, I can't promise that there won't be any occurences of sand-in-the-mouth or nose, but I can assure you that your kids will love this product.
Currently, our Step 2 Sand and Water Activity Center is inside the playroom in our house (we left the sand outside!). The kids had so much fun playing with it last summer, we decided to let the fun continue during the colder months. My son enjoys driving his cars on the play roads and setting up his army guys on the outer edges. My daugher enjoys knocking them down when he's not looking. :)
