Kids Play for Hours

I wanted my girls to have a playhouse, and the Step 2 Neat &Tidy Cottage was a perfect match for my girls. This cottage looks simple, but has so many fun features to it. My girls love the doorbell, and pretending like they are inviting a guest in. The mail slot is a huge plus, we have made pretend mail on post cards, and they act like they are mailing a letter. I will serve them lunch and they eat inside their little house, I serve their food on toy plates, and pour juice in the tiny cups, then they will put the dishes in the sink that's built into the house. It comes with a pretend phone that my youngest loves to play with. The door and shutters open and close giving my girls that realistic feeling of home. I like that this can be both an indoor and outdoor toy. It's made of high quality material that barely fades in the sun, and can be wiped clean with soap and water. To this day I still have toys made by Step 2 that my oldest daughter played with when she was younger, now she is 15! I knew I couldn't go wrong with this purchase, it can be passed down to other children years down the road.

Go big or don't go at all.

It was a mistake to buy this house as it isn't something that your child can use for a long time. It's really only acceptable for toddlers, and even then, it's not like they can actually sit on the "chairs" because they're so narrow. Step 2 was probably trying to make an affordable house for little ones to play in so they had to cut corners. If you are on your first child and expect to have more, then you might like having this and get your money's worth, but beware that they won't get use out of it for a long time. The little gadgets in it are cute, but only hold the kids' interests for a little while. One little foster girl we had was just learning to walk and seemed to get a kick out of pulling herself up with this. I could sit outside and weed my flowers for while because it would entertain her to no end. Since the house is a pretty small one and we live in the Midwest, we decided to move this into our basement to give little ones something to do when it's too cold to go outside, which has been nice because really small ones who like to pretend they know how to read will sit inside and flip through books. It's a tight fit for more than one or two kids, however. All in all, if my memory serves me right, it wasn't a very expensive toy and I'm figuring it will last for quite awhile. The resale at garage sales on things like this are very good, too.

Great Playhouse

My little boy adores this Step 2 Neat & Tidy Cottage. I love it because he spends hours playing in this cottage. I love that this has a floor. His other play equipment doesn't have that and he is constantly getting wet and muddy from the ground. This is so sturdy. It isn't going to get broke, like so many other toys, just from normal wear and play. It has very cute features. This comes with a door bell that actually works. It has a door that opens and closes. It has shutters that open and close. It has a telephone and a mail slot. It makes it easy for my son to use his imagination and play for hours. He loves get some of my junk mail or paper and envelopes and delivering the mail. This has a table and two chairs and also a sink. Some may view this as expensive but for the quality and amount of playtime you get out of this, I think it was very much worth it. Step 2 products always come through for me.

Great little house

5

I have four children, so we have a lot of Step2 products. We just got the Step2 Neat & Tidy Cottage over the summer. It is a great little house. My only complaint would be that it is slightly smaller than some of the other play houses out there. I chose this house specifically for the fact that it has a floor. I hate how the ground gets muddy and loses grass underneath the play houses that do not have a bottom. While this does mean you have to clean it more, your kids will not get as dirty. This is always a plus. It seems like my kids are dirty the instant they walk out the door. The cottage is adorable. It has a sink, table, and two built in chairs. The doors and windows open and close as a real home wood. It also has a doorbell and telephone. The last selling point was that the finish on the outside of this house matched my new siding. It couldn't have been more perfect. And as I stated, it is slightly smaller than some of the other Play houses out there. I would say four years old is the max for this house. That is unless your child doesn't mind bending over to play inside of the house. Both my son and my daughter, ages one and two, have tons of fun in this little cottage.

Cute Cottage for Kids!

5

My parents bought this Step 2 Neat & Tidy Cottage for my daughter on her third birthday. She is now almost 5 and still absolutely loves it! This cottage has a sink and "faucet", two seats and a small table area all on the inside. Mind you, this cottage is for small children, but my two kids and myself can fit inside comfortably - with my squatting - with extra space still. The cottage has a working door that open and closes and a doorbell that rings. It does require batteries. There is also a phone inside the cottage for placing important cottage calls, and a mail slot on the outside. The mail slot is probably the most exciting thing and my kids just love putting "mail" through to the inside. The cottage also has shutters on the windows, allowing for blockage of the sun - or, most likely, privacy from mom and dad. My kids love this cottage and I can see them enjoying it for many more years. They are currently 3 and 4.5 and spend many, many hours inside this cottage in the summer months.

Hours of Fun

I am a huge fan of pretty much everything made by Step 2. The Neat & Tidy Cottage is no exception. I have actually kept mine indoors so as to minimize wear and tear from the crazy weather that we often get here, but a close friend has the same exact blue roof model and keeps her outdoors. With the exception of sun fading, it looks great. I have two boys, and they can stay entertained for hours in this fun little house. It transforms from a house to a tent to a restaurant to a monster cave to whatever. I love the way that it allows the imagination to run wild. The door and windows are perfectly sized for toddlers on up to preschoolers. Grade school children will probably be too tall though. The construction is solid and the materials are great. My boys are pretty tough on their toys, but this cottage could hold up to the Big Bad Wolf. The colors are cute and gender neutral. I feel like it would easily transition if we ever have a girl.
