My husband and I decided to get a new mattress, and went to our local Bernie & Phylls to pick one out. We were told that the Stearns & Foster was a top of the line mattress. The mattress we picked out was a king size, firm, plush top. There was a lifetime warrenty that we also purchased. (We were never told about the conditions of that warrenty, nor did we get anything in writing.)

Within one year, the mattress was sagging, the stitching came undone, and the fabric started to run like a nylon. Upon calling the company we were told that this was "normal" wear and tear. I had my other mattress for 15 years, and it was still in MINT condition; so I KNOW this is not normal wear and tear.
We were able to return the mattress, but talked to others who had purchased Stearns & Foster and they all ran into the same problems within a year.

Stearns & Foster is an overpriced, overrated product that is a rip off. I will advise ANYONE thinking about getting one, not to.

I totally agree! Way to much money. Ours sags so bad on both sides (king pillow top). I have to get in the middle just to get a good night sleep.

Check out <blog.pennlive.com/mattress/> and find out what other brands of mattresses are having the same or worse problems. Also get advice on selecting the right mattress.

We are having the same problem with our expensive Stearns & Foster mattress. The company easily got out of honoring the warranty because they refuse to measure the sag in the middle of the bed where it is more than the required 1.5" to affect the warranty. This is because they conveniently put a seam there and according to their policy, they cannot measure any sag near a fabric seam. We are very disappointed with our Stearns & Foster mattress and would never recommend one to anyone else.

I totally agree. After two months our S & F mattress started sagging. Unfortunately we still have it! It feels like we are sleeping in canoes and looks like it too. Matress was a big let down.
