State Farm Review Summary

“Like a Good Neighbor, State Farm is There”. Most everyone is familiar with this popular slogan from the State Farm Insurance Company and reviewers appreciate State Farm Insurance for being a good neighbor when they need financial assistance following an unexpected event. Auto, Life, and Fire are among the many different types of insurance offered by State Farm Insurance and reviewers like the friendly service and helpful State Farm agents. Feelings are mixed when it comes to price, with comments ranging from “Good Agents, but Overpriced” to “Providing the Best Service and Price”, but varying opinions on price are common with any Insurance Company and are only one consideration among many when selecting an insurance carrier. Excellent agents and quick response time are also very important, and State Farm ranks favorably in these areas.

When I saw the commercials for State Farm and they said "Like a good neighbor, State Farm is there" I thought no insurance company is that good. But I was wrong! We switched to State Farm after I got into my first accident and it was cheaper than what we were paying before with our prior insurance company....

Someone told me that I'd get better rates with State Farm, since I had a kid about to turn 16. I called, and they did give me good rates.

I'd seen the commercials about "Like a Good Neighbor - State Farm is There." They do have a local office, so that sounded good too. USAA is in Texas - not a problem...

Although this incident is not recent, it is typical of State Farm.  Two other State Farm insured home owners had the same experience we did with their roofs.
We had roof damage from a hail storm, and all our neighbors who were not insured with State Farm received new roofs.  Since our neighborhood requires wood roofs, it is costly to replace them.  State Farm declared our roof could be repaired and not replaced.  Two different roofers told us it was too damaged to walk on in order to repair and needed to be replaced.  State Farm would not budge and insisted on a low dollar payment to have the...

Accidents happen and State Farm understands that. They also understand renters insurance, homeowners insurance and automotive insurance. I hold all my insurance poilicies with State Farm and have since I was old enough to drive.

And yes, I've been in car accidents while insured with State Farm, two actually and one was my fault. One the first accident I totalled my car and was listed as an individual on my parents policy at the time. Because of their long-standing relationship with State Farm, I got accident forgiveness and my rates stayed the same and my coverage stayed the same.

Then I was hit...

We (I) have had State Farm auto insurance for over 25 years.  I started when I was 16 from when my parents had State Farm and when I got married my husband came over to State Farm. We have never had one complaint but have been fortunate enough to only have 2 auto claims and 1 homeowner claim in over 25 years.  Our truck was stolen and State Farm paid us a very fair amount in a timely manner and recently we had over $20,000 damage to our property and again State Farm was more than fair with their estimate of our damage and payout was immediate.  I can't complain whatsoever.  Now our daughter... read full review »

I've been with State Farm since I was first insured.  I'm now 50!

I've got to tell you that I haven't been able to find another company that could beat what State Farm offered, especially since I've been insured with State Farm for so long.  State Farm gives some great discounts and they add up, causing my auto insurance bill to be lower than with other companies.  You may wonder how I would know what other companies charge since I've been with State Farm forever.  Well, I have shopped around on occasion (probably 10 times in the 35 years I've been insured with them).

I have been in a few accidents,...

I never thought I'd say this about an insurance company, but State Farm has my back.   :-o

When we got a substantial recent increase in our PITI mortgage payment, I called State Farm to see how much of it was insurance (following two years of hurricanes in Florida).

I was told that indeed our homeowners policy had nearly tripled, but that an agent at the local office realized we qualified for a particular discount which was offered.  She applied for the discount without even telling us.   We then received a $1000 refund check in the mail, and now our mortgage book is being re-generated...

I have been with State Farm for my car insurance for the last 6 years, and I have always been satisfied; my agent has consistently proven to be courteous, professional, and willing to help in any way possible with any and every question I might have regarding my coverage. The real test came, however, when I was in an accident about 2 years ago; I did not know the meaning of "quick response" until I called my agent to inform her about it.

My little Nissan Sentra was at a complete stop when its trunk was bashed in by a Ford Ranger doing 30 MPH. Upon hearing this, my agent immediately arranged for...

I just became insured through State Farm about two months ago.  I sent my grandson to my van and low and behold, he locked the keys in the car.  We were preparing for school drop offs.  I called my State Farm agent and was given names of locksmiths.  Within the hour I had a locksmith here and my keys were back in my hand.  State Farm is definitely a good neighbor and I highly recommend this company.  The agents are very pleasant and personable and the rates are the best I have seen in a while.  I should know because I got at least a dozen quotes before choosing State Farm and no other company... read full review »

State Farm has always been excellant in every dealings I have had with them. When I got hit by a police car (who ran a red light with not siren on) they were fast with seeing to it I had a replacement car with in 1 hour and taking care of paying the claims real fast. Our whole family has used State Farm for over 45 years and has had excellant results, from Fires to tornado damage and even Hurricane damage, they have been fast and quick with seeing that the claims are paid on time to seeing if you have any pressing needs or concerns at the time that need addressed.

State Farm is a family oriented insurance company. My entire family is insured with State Farm. Anytime we need something, we just pick up the phone and they are there. If you have a wreck at 3:00 AM, they will be there to help you sort everything out, take pictures, and help get a tow truck. The people we deal with know us and take an interest in us personally. I would never do buisness elsewhere.

I absolutely love State Farm. Every time I walk into the office I am always welcomed with a friendly smile, a soda, and fresh cookies. I believe they go over and beyond to help their customers feel appreciated. Their prices are lower than I have found other places. I have been with this company for a y ear now and I could not imagine switching my insurance.

They are also very fast on settling claims. I totalled my car in October of 2007. Within two weeks they had my claim taken care of.

Over the years, I occasionally got quotes on my auto insurance, which I used to have through American Express (now Ameriprise).  No one could touch the rates I got with AmEx until a year ago, when I got a combined auto/home quote from State Farm.  It wasn't a lot lower (maybe $150/year), but it was enough to make me switch.

I'm like the people in the local State Farm office, and I'm happy with the service they've provided.

I used to work for State Farm and have had State Farm Insurance my whole life.  This is a great company, if you want personal service and a relationship with an agent.  Our practice in our office was to call our customers and have them come in to review all their policies every year or two.  This sounds like an opportunity to up-sell, but actually it is an opportunity to make sure you aren't paying too much either. (There were instances where a child moved out of the house, or a drive passed away.)

The bad part is that you can expect to receive mail from State Farm at least once a week.  State...

Our agent is a nice guy, and his staff is accomodating. We have boys, so one can imagine the excitement we experience as they are driving. State Farm has been very good in keeping us informed when there have been problems relating our son's mishaps. They have been longsuffering with us, and given us great service. I use them for business and personal vehicle needs and would recommend them highly.
