Stash puts out a whole line of teas, both herbal and variants of green, black, and white tea, but my favorite choice is the Licorice.  It has the flavor of good black licorice and is probably something that you could well drink without any added sweetener at all.  If I am using it for a cold or flu, I will add organic honey to it.  In any event, this stuff will settle an upset tum, it can help quell a nasty cough, and it seems to really soothe a sore throat.  20 flow through bags in a nicely vacuum sealed box mean that it retains freshness until you break the outer wrap. (I have found that it is tougher to find this particular flavor and variety in the summer months)  Doesn't adapt well to iced tea applications, has no caffiene.  It is an herbal selection, so you do have to let it steep a bit longer than you would with tea leaves, but it won't go bitter on you from being steeped too long.  One word of caution-true black licorice root does tend to elevate blood pressure, so if you take meds for that, you might want to check it out with your doctor first.  Licorice root even has mild laxative properties.  The flavor is alot like Good 'n' Plenty candies (remember the pink and white things at the movie theaters?)  Each box is right around $3-less if they are having a promotional sale.  Not available everywhere, but I have found it in major chains like Safeway, Dominick's, Jewell and Meijer's....

Enjoyed your review. Licorice is also good for sore throats so is sometimes used in remedial teas.

Great review, I love the good and plentys,But that is as far as I've ventured into the black licorice, My mom on the other hand Buys the whole black bag of jelly beans.. You have some very true key points for the licorice, esp the high blood pressure one, I have heard recently about that.. I really liked the fact that it won't go bitter on you,are all stash teas like that or just this flavor ??
