Stargate Atlantis Review Summary

Stargate Atlantis is judged here to be the "best show on Friday nights." While the time slot had "become a television wasteland," reviewers note it changed when Stargate Atlantis appeared on the Sci-Fi Channel. This spinoff of Stargate SG-1 revolves around an international group of military personnel and scientists that find a Stargate network in the Pegasus Galaxy. Having already been nominated for a People's Choice Award, reviewers find it now stands on its own and has "proved itself to stand out and step up to keep this history of Stargate alive." Some even find they are liking Stargate better than its parent show. Fans are "amazed at how many new ideas the writers can come up with for new episodes." Stargate Atlantis reviewers have just one questions for you. "Great characters, great special effects, what more could you ask?"

As my wife will most surely attest, I will watch anything on the small screen at least once.  But if it fails to entertain, the program is history.  Friday nights have become a television wasteland until the 9:00 (CST).  That is when Stargate Atlantis drops onto the screen on Sci-Fi

Season Five of Stargate Atlantis started at the beginning of July and it started with a bang, literally as a build imploded on our little band of four; Lt. Colonel John Sheppard (Joe Flanigan), Teyla Emmagen (Rachel Luttrell), Dr. Rodney McKay (David Hewlett), and Rono Dex (Jason Momoa). Of course they managed...

Stargate Atlantis started as a spin-off of Stargate SG-1. Stargate SG-1 ran for 10 seasons making it the longest running sci-fi show ever. Unfortunately they came to an end. However this review is about Atlantis, so you probably want to know about Atlantis right? A few characters have moved over to Atlantis from SG-1. Not necessarily a bad thing. The transition seems to have went fairly smooth. Based in the Pegasus galaxy, a team of explorers run their operations out of the "City of the Ancients", otherwise known as Atlantis. Being in a different galaxy, the enemies they encounter would presumably... read full review »

This show is another wonderful addition to the Stargate family.  Special effects are great.  the characters are fun and well written, they all compliment each other.  As much as it is a made up story line it is believable.  It leaves you thinking, maybe this really could happen.

It is well worth the time turn the TV on for and purchase the DVDs when each season is done.  If you like SciFi you will enjoy this show.  I have been following this show since the first one.

As they explore the distant Pegasus galaxy, the Atlantis Expedition encounters great challenges, great friends - and great foes. Often, their adventures begin in their home base, Atlantis itself, a city built thousands of years ago by the highly evolved and mysterious Ancients. Atlantis is a treasure trove of strange technology, all of it wondrous and some of it downright lethal.

The city is also linked to countless planets and human civilizations throughout the galaxy via the Ancients' network of stargates. The team confronts terrible dangers as they travel among these foreign stars. The Wraith,...

I truly enjoy the escape a good Sci-Fi TV show or movie can provide especially if you work at home and life is for the most part predictable. I love all the star treks, SG-1, Smallville and especially Atlantis because of the intelligence required to develop these storylines and characters not to mention the special effects and attractive men lol. Atlantis had that little extra touch of fantasy that I think made me enjoy it all the more. Who would have ever thought after Dr. Rodney McKay and Wolsey for that matter made their debut's on SG-1 years before that we would come to love these characters.... read full review »

Recently nominated for a Peoples Choice Award, The Sci Fi Channel Show "Stargate Atlantis" is one of the best and orginal shows out there, standing on its own from its mother the retired Stargate SG-1 it has proved it self to stand out and step up to keep the history of Stargate Alive.

Come join the cast of Stargate as they jump though the gate to different planets encounter mortal enemies and watch them make allies.  For Sci Fi Junkies this is a great show to watch, and get into.

Stargate Atlantis comes on at 10pm every friday on the Sci Fi Channel.

I've watched this show from the very begining and have enjoyed every minute of it! The show has intelligent characters and plenty of action. Basically, the show revolves around a scientific mission to Atlantis made possible by a stargate that connects Earth to the lost city of Atlantis, which is located in the Pegasas Galaxy. There are plenty of new and exciting technological discoveries, as well as new friends or foes to be discovered. It's worth giving Stargate Atlantis a try. I don't think you'll regret it if you are a fan of Sci-Fi.

If you love Stargate, you will love Stargate Atlantis.  As a sci-fi buff, I think this show has done justice keeping on the Stargate legacy.  The characters are all very good. Even though people keep coming and going into the "leader" role at Atlantis, the cast still keeps coming together and making it work.  As always, I am amazed at how many new ideas the writers can come up with for new episodes in all these t.v. shows.  Forever Sci-FI, Forever Stargate, Star Wars, Star Trek and so on...

I was hesitant at first about a new Stargate show, but after watching the first season I have come to like this show even better. The wraith make an excellent enemy that is actually kind of terrifying to look at and even the way they kill you. Another example of the shows depth is the way they developed the Wraith characters as not just heartless monsters, but as creatures now trying to survive. All around the characters are well written and the action is intense. Also, I miss Torri Higginson as Dr. Elizabeth Weir.

Stargate Atlantis is fast paced and full of adventures beyond your wildest dreams.  A great cast giving outstanding performances.  The characters are always faced with new problems whether these be unknown enemies or discovering new planets and their inhabitants.  It's also filled with amazing problem solving by the characters done with a great deal of intelligence, caring, and forethought.  If you love the idea of earth inhabitants traveling to other planets then this show is for you.

The ensemble cast of Atlantis is what makes the show.  The main team has wit and intelligence and make them so enjoyable that they few times they have flirted with the loss of a team member it is sincerely dramatic.

Still waiting for the new "uber bad guys" to show up this season, as they truly shine in episodes where they have an equally interesting opponent.

Stargate Atlantis ROCKS!  Love the characters and the premise of the show.  The special effects are great and I love the way the characters interact.  The villians are usually pretty creepy and the story line is good most of the time.  It is a must see if you like science fiction TV.

this show is a spinoff of one of the sci-fi fans favorite shows. usually spinoffs are a little weaker than their parent shows, but not this one. its holds its own by far. it has an engaging, intense and sometimes creepy story arc. the cast is extremely good. this is a program i just cant get enough of. one of the best.

Stargate Atlantis keeps it's fans on the edge of their seats from week to week wondering what unexpected nightmare will appear next for the team to survive. The cast included in this series fit well together and I cannot imagine what it will be like when the show is over for good. Just the thought of it depresses me.

I'll admit it - I don't like Stargate Atlantis nearly as much as I like Stargate SG-1. They aimed for younger, sexier, and shinier (both in the Firefly sense, and literally at times) and you know what? They got it. SGA is younger, it is sexier, and it is shinier... but I don't think that makes it a better show.
