Starbucks - Seattle, WA —

I think I speak for at least a third of the US population when I say that caffeine makes me happy. I drive considerably far to get to work every morning (I literally live on the west side of Oahu and work on the very east side of the island). Sure, I live on an island so people often think the drive can't be all that bad. The odometer says I drove 28 miles, but it took me an hour to get from point A to point B. That's bad. And anyone driving on Oahu during rush hour knows this.

Starbucks is the light at the end of the tunnel. It is not something that I would recommend doing on a daily basis (I speak on behalf of my organs like my kidneys, pancreas and liver who have to process this delightful fix) because it does get pricey, not to mention fattening (I get a tall whip mocha--nothing fancy). I love how the baristas know me by face, and how their pleasant attitude rubs off on me and I leave feeling just as pleasant. The smell when you enter is captivating (I know others have complained that it smells like burnt coffee but I absolutely love it). The background music selected is just enough energy to make the sinoatrial node in my heart dance to a different rhythm, but not aggravate me.

Try their holiday flavors--they only offer it for a limited time so I encourage everyone to take advantage. I just tried the Gingerbread Latte Frappuccino and it is sinfully good! A nice gift idea if anyone is interested is the ability for people to create their own Starbucks card online. I had purchased gift cards for my employees that said "(Name)'s Morning Fix" and their customized drink. They loved it. They reuse it because it's their identity on a piece of plastic. The customization is an additional $4, but it's worth it I think because it makes the individual feel special and encourages recycling cards. Besides the fact that Starbucks is one expensive addiction, I have nothng bad to say about them.
