Alright, I've had it up to the foam that is never in my latte. When I do take the train to work I get off at the Merchandise Mart. How convenient that there is a Starbucks located right inside! Sooo, you would think with all of the traffic coming through, including all of the people that get off the train as well as work near or in the Mart, that the store would be running fairly efficiently. Unfortunately, it's not.

I don't get coffee very often from Starbucks because one, it's expensive and two, I just don't drink coffee too much. So far, evertime I have ordered a latte from them it has taken about 20 minutes to finally get it.

Here is the process I usually go through....

After getting in a ridiculous line, which I can handle because that's just the way it is in a busy buidling with a train stop, I order from someone with a headset, which is then relayed to a frantic person behind the bar. He is always very friendly and more than willing to help out his customers with anything. He even seems to be great friends with some of the regulars! After placing my order, I usually wait about 5 minutes before getting to the register to pay... which I don't mind either. This is where is goes downhill. There are usually at least 10 people in front of me waiting for their drinks... at least! Most of them look pretty annoyed and are leaning on the counters staring at the guy making the drinks. The person frantically writing down the orders on the cups is sweatin up a storm and the one, just one, person actually making them looks lost. Everytime he puts down a drink he doesn't say it right and leaves out the "whip" when yelling out someone's  tall half-skinny half-1 percent extra hot split quad shot (two shots decaf, two shots regular) latte with whip. At this point the process is slowed even further as the guy tries to figure out who it belongs to while everyone else is staring at the lonely complicated drink that someone doesn't seem to remember ordering.

It's usually about 10 minutes before I finally receive my latte, which NEVER has foam and is almost always luke warm. All in all, I think I am a fairly patient person and can completely understand that the location is super busy but come one people, get more help!

They don't like Starbucks in Ithaca because it has become a big
chain. GIMME Coffee is a favorite there because it is local coffee
shop and they have the Blue Frog in Cortland. They have open
mike there on Friday nights instead of Thursdays. The Dryden
Cafe just opened and they sell a brew called the Dryden Blend.

I don't drink coffee but I'm sorry to hear that you have been very disappointed with this specific location. Get in touch with Reviewer11 and ask her opinion on dealing with Starbucks. She's a big fan of them also. ~Gigi

Welcome to today's Customer Service! I've got 12 years of call centre/help desk stories from both sides of the fence. My opinion on businesses like this Starbucks: walk away and encourage 2 others to do the same [it's a progressive, geometric thing].

In response to kevin's comment from Dec 3, 2008 at 1:05PM:

Wretched. I am either going to have to leave much earlier or find a new location... or just rely on the Keurig!!

This location actually used to be a lot more efficient...a year ago or so I never waited more than a couple of minutes after paying. Now I see the masses of people waiting at the counter and I just walk right on by...
