This review examines the 2006 Special Limited Edition two-disc DVD set which contains the 2004 "revised" Special Edition of Star Wars - Episode IV: A New Hope and the original 1977 theatrical release version.

"A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away...."

It's hard to recall a time when I, like millions of moviegoers who belong to the "1977 Generation, hadn't seen the most famous opening "card" in cinematic history or heard the phrase "May the Force be with you"  uttered either by characters on-screen or by fans who love George Lucas's film about "a boy, a girl, and a Universe."

It's also hard...

I saw this movie 30 years ago when I was 7 years old.  Recently my 8 year and 6 year old wanted to see it.  Out of nostalgia I said ok.  Some parents might think they were too young, but at the end of the day I think it was OK. We are pretty sensitive to not exposing them to violent video games and not allowing them to have guns.  But somehow, this movie seemed worthy of an exception.

So, this review is what my kids like about the movie.

"Ummm, there was light sabers in it. There were guns."

"I liked Luke Skywaker"

Ok, so maybe I have not raised the next Siskel and Ebert.  Let me just say...

What can I say about the greatest movie ever made.  This movie was the start of my Sci-Fi addiction.  It still gives me goosebumps every time I watch it.  The only problem is when you are watching all six.  This movie or episode 1.

Star wars! The original trilogy is the best!  It action packed and fantasy filled. I personally am a huge fan of Chewbacca! that giant fur ball is awesome! It's a great story about luke Skywalker and Princess Leia. Don't be mistaken though, they are siblings. With Darth Vader twisting things up, turns out he is there father!  They are fighting for good and evil in this awesome, action packed, fantasy filled 3 movie set!!!

Star Wars: A New Hope was origionally going to be just another space movie amongst a bunch of B and C rate science fiction movies in the late seventies (I believe 1977 to be exact)  What happened within the first week of it's release was an unprecidented outpour of support, making it one of the most ageless movies ever to be created.

I myself was once a Star Wars buff.  I can remembering my father mentioning that if I liked Science Fiction I should rent this movie, so I did.  What was in store for me was a jouney from the desert planet of Tatooine, through the twisted corridors of the Death Star,...

I was pleasantly surprised when I went to Target.com to find the original Star Wars dvd movie for only $10.99!  My husband told me he wanted it for Christmas - he has all of the other dvd's except this one - I happened to transfer a prescription to Target and got a $10 gift card for doing that, so I thought I would check to see how much the movie was there.  $10.99 for a brand new movie is outstanding!  So if anyone asks for this movie, Target is the place to go!  I know anyone who loves Star Wars probably already has this, but just in case they don't, this is a perfect gift without spending... review »

Like it's two predecessors, but unlike the later prequels, Star Wars VI - Return of The Jedi had stunningly realistic and believable special effects and filming sets. The story was a masterpiece, and the Han Solo - Princess Leia relationship done far better than most Science Fiction films manage. A few cliches did nothing to detract from the film (after all, they became cliches by being really good lines). Possibly the best of the Star Wars films, at the peak before the decline of episodes I, II, and III.

Star Wars is on of those timeless movies for people of all ages. My four boys love the entire Star Wars series. If I let my children they would watch one of the Star Wars movies every sngle day if not more like two, three or all of them one after another. This is a classic series of movies

The Star wars movies are really two sets of movies. The older classic ones and the new set which are the 1-3 of the set, time wise. The older movies we amazing, they had a great story, line and actors. Since there is such a time difference between the making of the two different sets, it makes the movies seem less related. The newer ones are not the same. The great plots and scripts have been replaced with too much graphics. I think graphics can be great, but it helps to have a plot along with it. The acting was poor and overly dramatic. So i give it five stars for the older set and two stars for...
