Like many Star Wars fans of the 1977 Generation - those millions of young (and young-at-heart) movie watchers who were swept off their feet by George Lucas' space fantasy set "a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away," I was really looking forward to the May 1999 premiere of Star Wars - Episode I: The Phantom Menace, the first of three "prequel" Episodes dealing with the rise of the Galactic Empire and the tragic fall from grace of a young Jedi named Anakin Skywalker, a.k.a. Darth Vader, Dark Lord of the Sith.
Also like many Star Wars fans, I thought that Episode I was a bit of a let down,...

Okay, we're all familiar with the legendary, and sometimes infamous, Star Wars films. We've all seen the movies - and if you haven't, I demand you stop reading and go watch them NOW! - we've all heard the quotes, we've all used the phrase "May the Force be with you." review »While this is my least favorite Star Wars film, it is still a good film. Yes there are flaws... OH MY there are flaws. But it is entertaining. I admit I had trouble getting into it until the second time I watched it (and reading the book version helps as well), but it is a good film.
I enjoyed learning the origin of Anakin Skywalker. I enjoyed learning about other jedi that had been destroyed. I enjoyed learning that Anakin had created C-3PO. And yes... I enjoy seeing Natalie Portman in almost any capacity.
Yes, I could have done without Jar Jar Binks. In fact I thought his "accent" was VERY difficult...
