Quick! Your coworker's being treated to a birthday party and you need a gift! What on earth do you get someone that you really only know from work? How about a big, red, shiny Staples EASY Button?
This little gadget is sheer marketing genius on the behalf of Staples. Capitalizing on the sucess of their "That Was Easy" ad campaign, they manufactured real buttons, just like the ones featured in the ads, with the same voice saying, "That was easy!" And then they took pains to truly make it easy. You can buy EASY buttons at Staples, or online at their website for about $5. When I discovered at Christmas that they sold them in a nice gift box that only required a label and a bow before being present-ready, I snapped up 3. Even with the gift box, the price was still about $5.
Say it with me: "That was easy!"
The buttons are a hit with coworkers, although you can't go giving everyone in your office one or you'll drive them all mad. But it's a good gift for at least one coworker to have. The only downside is that in about a month, people will begin to groan once the joke's worn thin. That's when I took mine home and gave it to my husband to take to his office. Et voila! The cycle begins anew.
I have two EASY buttons sitting in my closet just waiting for that impromptu small gift need to pop up. Cheap, easy and fun. Staples was right!
