Stainless is the way to go

I can remember when we first moved in to our home (the first home we have ever owned) it had all white appliances. The kitchen looked so dated even though the home was new and I couldn't wait until we could afford to take out all the old and update it with all new stainless appliances. Once the new appliances went it, I cried. No, really, I did. I LOVED my new kitchen. It was such a dramatic difference from the old kitchen that was there when we first moved in and, although we hand't finished the floors, countertops, or cabinets yet...I still felt so much better about my kitchen. I now have three small children and my appliances have had their fair share of smudges (especially my dishwasher for some reason?). But despite having to clean them often, I wouldn't trade my stainless appliances for anything. I like the look of black as well and if I had tons of money, I would love to have a refrigerator that has a wood front. My parents have the old school retro refrigerator that is all rounded and has the funky door handle that you pull. I think that going modern is the way to go to add value to your home.

Stainless Steel Kitchen Appliances

**I love ****Stainless Steel Kitchen Appliances because they look modern. They are also extremely easy to clean and care for and with little tender loving care; they could always look brand new. They look great with any cabinet style, cabinet color and or cabinet type of wood. There is a wide range of stainless steel kitchenware and small appliances that would match perfectly with them. They could last a life time with minimal care. I remember my mom had stainless steel appliances so they have passed the test of time and are classic. They never go out of style. They are the most durable and all in all best looking appliances there is. My entire kitchen is loaded with stainless steel and if you check all chefs' kitchens, they won't use anything other than stainless steel appliances. Steel is one the most durable material and the fact that it does not need staining or it would not oxidize is the reason why this material is the first choice of all the professionals. ** I highly recommend them to all prospective buyers.

Looks nice, but too much work to keep clean

We just purchased a newly built house and had our choice of appliance colors.....white, black or stainless.  I really wanted almond, but guess that's not "in" anymore.  Anyway, we chose stainless and so far I am NOT impressed. Yes, they look nice in our cherry cabinet/granite countertop kitchen, but they are a bear to keep clean!  We stayed at our new house a week last month to do some finish work and I couldn't believe how bad they looked at the end of the week.  And we have no little kids to leave fingerprints everywhere!  I can't imagine anyone with children having these as they would spend all their time cleaning them.  I have read that the key is to NOT use stainless steel cleaner, but haven't found the proper formula yet.  I should have gotten the black ones...........

The LG SS french doors refridgerator is great except for.

I am a busy grandmother of 3 boys, ages 5 and the twins are 3-1/2. who live with me.  All they want to do is eat, and look in the refrigerators.  Well they finally broke the door on the old one and I had to purchase a new fridge.  So I bought a LG - 22.6 Cu. Ft. French Door Refrigerator - Stainless-Steel.  I love the french doors.  It makes to so much easier to load and unload. Another nice thing about the french doors you can actually see what in the fridge with not  having to move items and bending over to see what is on the bottom.   I also love the freezer drawer on the bottom. (except now the kids can reach the Popsicle's) It holds allot more than it looks like it would.  Right now I have over 200lb of meat in mine and still room for the other items.  The things I do not like about it: The stainless steel   with 3 boys always looking for something eat the fingerprints are terrible.  And the special cleaner you have to buy to get rid of them is a little pricey as far as I am concerned.  Soap and water does not clean them off.  So the front of my fridge is usually all smeared up with fingerprints, makes it look dirty.  The other thing I am displease with is the size of the compartments in the door.  I always have at least 2 gallons of milk, a gallon of juice and a picture of ice tea in the fridge.  Can not put them all in the doors.  Have to lay the unopened gallon of milk on its side till the other is gone.  If they would have made one door or the whole thing about 1-1/2 wider you could put 2 gallons of milk in one compartment.  The way it is you can only fit 1 gal of anything per the larger compartments.  grams of 3

I hate stainless steel appliances, remind me of school kitchens

1

Okay, so I go against the grain.  I used to work in the kitchen of a school and of course everything was stainless steel.  The stainless steel appliances remind me of the coldness of that kitchen, plus, they're hard to keep streak free.  I just don't understand why they are so popular.

Worst type to try and keep clean

Oh boy....if you own stainless steel appliances like I do,,,well what a job it is to keep finger prints and water spots off of them! I never thought going sleek and high-tech would cause me so much grief trying to keep them looking sleek and high-tech! If I'm entertaining, it could take literally hours just to clean the kitchen appliances alone. Better off going in another direction when selecting future appliances

pretty, but extremely hard to keep fingerprints off

I have a Whirlpool Gold series; which includes the dishwasher, convection oven, and the refridgerator with the water and ice dispenser.  The positives things about these three items are as follows: These are very nice appliances.  They are very appealing to the eye and very classy looking.  The give a rich look to any kitchen.   The dishwasher cleans nicely.  The refridgerator is spacious.  The water tastes wonderful.  The convection oven is easy to use and self explainatory, self cleaning and beautiful.  The negative comments are as follow: All three of the stainless steel appliances are hard to keep up as far as fingerprints go.  I have four children and they always have friends come over and play.  On a typical everyday basis, there are at least 6-8 kids.  Fingerprints are a given.  I'm very conscious about the way my home looks, especially when I have company over.  This is a big downfall to me.  I need to wipe clean the appliances every day.  The refridgerator needs to be wiped down and cleaned at least twice a day because of all of the fingerprints.  They are very appearant.  Also, the water dispenser is hard to clean b/c of the water build up.  It might be b/c of the hard water, but still I clean the water dispenser daily and still need to scrap water scum off of the dispenser tray.

Stainless steel is boring. Why does everyone love it? Let's add some color to our homes! In Italy, the appliances come in many different colors. I wish that I could buy a fridge that was bright yellow, or red, or magenta. Stainless steel is so institutional and cold--I understand it for restaurant kitchens, but why in the home? In our kitchen, we opted for black appliances...not magenta, but better than steel in my opinion.
