To the Point

We went to St. Louis, Missouri to see The Arch. I had no idea what this was. When I told friends we were going to St. Louis they said “Oh you’ll see the arch.” What a great stop this was!

A Closer View

We got tickets the day before which I highly recommend you do or you may be shut out. There are a number of combinations. For example you can go to the top and see one or two documentaries; you can just see the documentaries; you can just go to the top. We chose the latter.

We had tickets for the 11:00 tram. There was heavy security to get into the underground area which housed the documentaries, two stores and a museum that is free. If you do nothing else just going to this circular museum is worth it. I wouldn’t pass up the Arch though unless you are terrified of heights.

The tram which holds five people takes about 4 minutes to go up and 3 minutes to go down. Although the Arch is obviously curved, you will be upright in the tram as you are on a Ferris wheel. From the top we could see what seemed like forever. We were slightly tilted so that was a funny feeling. We could spend as long as we liked at the top.

We had no problem finding a parking spot close by at no cost. This was mid May.

Cost for the tram: $10.00 if you are 16 and up; $7.00 if you are 13 to 15; children 3 to 12 are $3.00 and if you have (which we did) a National Park Passport it will be $7.00.
