Not that great.

I bought this to help clear up my acne, which this did not do. It did not break me out anymore than I already was, but it didn't dry out my pimples or help them heal. The only thing that I really like about it is that it smells like green tea. It's a nice scent for the morning. It does not suds up well. I have to use numerous pumps to even feel like I'm getting remotely clean. I still felt like I had some sort of residue on my face after using this. I'm not sure if it was from this actual product, or from makeup and moisturizer that did not come off. It kind of feels like I'm just rubbing a gel on my face because little bubbles form. It's not very good at removing makeup, especially liquid foundation. I had to wash three times to get liquid foundation completely off the sides of my nose. It doesn't cleanse natural skin oils very well. My chin is still moderately oily just an hour after using this. This is better for people with dry skin because it did not irritate the dry spots on my face.

Not sure about SPF in my cleanser

2

I'm all for SPF protection. For many years I was too ignorant about protecting my skin from the sun and maybe all the damage has been done already, but I am now vigilant about applying sun screen. At first I was very excited about a cleanser with SPF and now I'm a little bit skeptical. You wash your face with the cleanser, wash the cleanser off, but the SPF stays on. The cleanser feels thicker than other cleansers I've tried. Any minimal contact near the eye area burns a lot, like getting sunscreen in your eye. Because of this burning sensation I have not enjoyed using this cleanser. The directions say to apply for 1 to 2 minutes which is a really long time when your face is burning, so I guess this product is just not for me. The 4 fluid ounce bottle was very inexpensive and if it does not burn you and you like the feeling of extra SPF protection I think this product would be good for you.

The St. Ives Protective Cleanser is a great gentle cleanser

This cleanser is really unique in that it has SPF (I think 15) to help protect your skin against the sun's harsh effects. Before this cleanser (and still) I'd never seen or heard about a cleanser with SPF, so I decided to try it out, and I like it. I mean, it's nothing incredibly special as a cleaser, but I love that it's gentle on my dry, somewhat sesitive skin. I don't have many problems with acne, so I can't say much about its ability  to fight blemishes or anything; I'm not sure it claims to do so, either. It's purpose is to clean and protect skin, and I think it does a great job of that. It does get rid of all my makeup very well at the end of the day, and my skin always feels great after I wash my face with this cleanser. Even though it has SPF in it, it doesn't dry out my skin, which I love. The SPF also makes me feel better about walking around without having applied sunscreen; it protects me from just the normal, eveyday sun exposure, but this is NOT intended to protect your skin from extreme sun exposure. It says on the back that it's just to help protect your skin from day-to-day exposure. Overall, this is a great cleanser, but it isn't much extraordinary if that's what you're looking for.

St. Ives Elements Protective Cleanser - First let me start off by saying that I love St. Ives. They have really good products. They never test on animals and they use a lot of natural ingredients. This product is part of their new natural elements line. This is a cleanser that is supposed to clean your skin and also provide UVA / UVB protection of SPF 10. I usually give a new product a week to see any results. I like the look of the bottle. It is yellow and has a picture of a sun on the bottle. It will capture you eye. The first thing that i notice about this product is that is has a really nice scent. It reminds me of fresh apples. It goes on very smooth and evenly. Has a good lather to it. The producs rinses off well. You don't feel a residue. After my face drys, my face feels tight. The SPF content is very low, so I would recommend applying another SPF moisturizer on after using this product. So you can get the full coverage that you need. But other than that I think it is a good product. Good price, nice smell and good results.

Green Tea Cleanser seems to work

4

First of all, let me say that I have oily skin.  I seem to have to wash my face at least 3 times a day normally, more so if I'm working out or excercising.  With that said, this facewash seems to work pretty well, although there have been a few times where I find myself wanting to wash my face a second time since I still am dealing with pimples at 23.  Keeping my face oil-free seems to be the best for me, so I need to make sure all the oil is off of my face after washing.  The thing about my skin, which is annoying, is that it dries out very easily, so I have to make sure I don't overwash.  In general, this facial cleanser seems to never have that problem for me, so I never have very dry skin after I wash my face.  It cleans well, it rinses off with no feeling of residue, and it keeps my face clear.  I've always been a fan of St. Ives and this product adds to the reason why I am a fan of their products.

St. Ives Green Tea Cleanser is very effective!

I have gone through tons of facial cleansers trying to find the right one for my skin. I have very oily skin, and it can become very irritated at times. A lot of facial cleansers that I have tried have just worsened my skin and irritated it more. St. Ives Green Tea Cleanser is the cleanser that I have been looking for. The first time I used it, I could immediately feel the difference. My face felt very refreshed and I could see the redness starting to go away. One thing I noticed was the smell of the cleanser. The green tea smell was very apparent and very refreshing. It did not have a generic perfume smell like a lot of other cleansers do. It does not feel thick either. I can confidently say that St. Ives Green Tea Cleanser has freshened up my face and cleared up a lot of the swelling and redness. I highly recommend this product for all skin types. My mother has very dry skin and even she uses the cleanser. Thank you St. Ives!

St Ives Green Tea cleanser

I bought this a couple of weeks ago for the very first time because I was breaking out quite a bit, and I can say without a shadow of a doubt that this product works great.  It not drying to my skin and it has definitley removed blemishes and has helped prevent them.  The cost is great, I never feel like I need to break the bank when purchasing any St. Ives product.

Freshen up your skin with Green Tea!

4

I have a love/hate relationship with facial cleansers. I have normal-to-combination skin depending on the time of year and month, and I fight a constant battle finding a "middle ground" cleanser that is neither too drying or too oily. I think that St. Ives Naturally Clear Green Tea Cleanser is the best I've found so far. First of all, the smell is ***lovely***. I'm very sensitive to many beauty products with strong scents, and this one was delightful and didn't bother me at all. If your skin is already extremely prone to dryness, this cleanser probably will not do you any favors. I do find that on days when my skin is extra dry, I have to moisturize a little extra to compensate for the moisture stripped away by this product. That said, for average or combination skin I think it's just right. The only real negative point I can mention about this product is that the pump on the bottle broke the very first time I used it, but hopefully that was just a fluke and not a common issue with St. Ives packaging. St. Ives products contain no Parabens or Phthalates and they conduct no animal testing, so you can feel pretty good about using this product. They also claim to use a high percentage of post-consumer recycled content for their packaging, so it's probably one of the more eco-friendly options that you'll find at drugstore prices.
