Dermatologists and beauty experts agree that skin exfoliation of dead skin cells is an important step to revealing softer, smoother skin.  I tried St. Ives Apricot Scrub because I read many positive reviews about it.  While it does have a few good qualities, it's not the product for me.

What I Liked about St. Ives Apricot Scrub:

  • Oil-free formula
  • Pleasant fragrance
  • Not tested on animals

What I Didn't Like about St. Ives Apricot Scrub:

  • Apricot exfoliants were abrasive
  • It was too easy to scratch my skin during use
  • Irritated a couple of blemishes that had been healing
  • Drying to the skin

The product claims to be hypo-allergenic and suitable for all skin types, but that certainly wasn't the case with my skin.

If you are a fan of facial scrubs, you will probably like this formula because it does smell good and the particles are coarse enough to do the job.  However, if your skin is easily irritated, you may find that using an AHA product (like Alpha Hydrox AHA Souffle), or a BHA product (like Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Stress Control) exfoliates dead skin cells without the irritation of a manual scrub. I've given up facial scrubs altogether, yet I get the same smooth skin with AHA and BHA products. Therefore, I can't recommend St. Ives Apricot Scrub unless you know your skin can handle the abrasion.

This works SO WELL on my husband's face he has a heavy beard and gets ingrown hairs. He doesn't mind that it's a girly product!

I loved the sandpaper feel b/c I knew it was working. I just finished a tube of this and am going to look for a different brand w/a different fragrance. I also use the Clinique exfoliating scrub that is safe to use every day but too expensive to do so ;+)

I used to love this one -- but as I got older my skin either got used to it or decided to hate it not sure which one -- so out the door it went.

Niacinamide (Vitamin B3), applied topically, is beneficial for reducing Acne, skin hyper-pigmentation (acne scars), increasing skin moisture and reducing fine wrinkles. Scientists at NY University College of Medicine have shown that Niacinamide is superior to antibiotics such as Clindamycin in controlling acne.
Try “Niapads” (it contains Niacinamide) for controlling your acne. It’s Simple for Pimple(C). One step process provides exfoliation, skin lightening, pore cleansing and prevention of acne.
Visit Niapads website for details.

My husband uses this occasionally but I don't like it. It feels like I'm rubbing a piece of sandpaper across my face. Good, honest review!

I haven't used this in years, so I can't even remember what it was like. I do remember the little pieces of apricot kernel where quite rough. Thanks for the info!
