Most HelpfulFinal Fantasy VIII is the first final fantasy game I ever played. The moment I started playing I was addicted to the storyline and the characters. After playing this game I urgently sought out every other final fantasy game ever made and have been a Final Fantasy addict ever since.
The core of any Final Fantasy game has always been its story, and Final Fantasy VIII's story is one of the best the series - and likely the genre - has ever seen. With Final Fantasy VII, Square showed that it had mastered the epic; with VIII, it shows that it has mastered the personal. The characters and their relationships...
read full review »Ok, Final Fantasy 8 is one of my all-time video games. The gameplay is exciting, the graphics are great (considering that it is a Playstation One game), the characters are colorful and interesting, the storyline will suck you in and not let you go, and the soundtrack is nothing short of amazing. There is also a little card game that provides a nice little break from adventuring that is worth checking out. Anyway, the story revolves around a young student named Squall Leonheart who becomes a mercenary for hire. The story evolves beyond imagination into an epic tale of time traveling, friendship, and...
read full review »I really think that of all the final fantasy games this one is the best of them all, but that is just my humble opinion. The fighting mode is one of the best. This game is very addicting and loads of fun. The storyline is one of the most interesting things about the game, with many twists and turns, it's bound to keep you glued to your chair and your television screen for many hours. The FMV scenes are nothing short of breathtaking as are some of the spells you are able to cast. Squaresoft (now Square Enix) has found a way to live up to the hype after the success of Final Fantasy 7. If your...

This was a very different take on the Final Fantasy Genre. In some ways it was okay, the graphics are nice and not too awkward. But most of the characters are mentally and emotionally challenged (especially the SEED director) and make most of the storyline slightly frustrating.
Parts of the game can also be tedious since points and rank are awarded for "behavior" and actions. The monsters the characters can call are a nice plus and can do awesome damage to foes. The fact you constantly have to switch them to different characters to make the monsters "like" them is a big time waster though.

read full review »By the time I bought this game, Final Fantasy 9 was out already, so I missed all the hype. That being said, I had no expectations coming into this game. I was not disappointed, except for how difficult and confusing the junctioning and drawing system of magic was. If you like being able to cast magic whenever you want, based on a learned ability, don't play this game. This game is cruel at times. The graphics ARE good for their time, but often look like crumpled paper dolls. It has a good, intensive storyline, however, and has good replay value.
