Sprint Nextel Review Summary

Sprint and Nextel; they used to be two, now they are one, Sprint-Nextel wireless phone service. Like the other majors in the market, Verizon, and AT&T, Sprint-Nextel offers nation-wide service. Despite the longevity of our two merged players in the marketplace our community of reviewers has mixed feelings about the service, with one stating “I have had Sprint for 2 years in August of 2008. I have had so many problems.” Still another reviewer stated “I have never had a problem with Sprint since the day I signed-up for it.” Sprint-Nextel offers a large selection of mobile phone devices, including push-to-talk units, smart phones like the MOTO Q, by Motorola, and BlackBerry’s by Research-in-Motion. Read what our community has to say about Sprint-Nextel, as well as Verizon Wireless and AT&T/Cingular Wireless Services.

Originally I had Verizon but when my dad's work phone was switched to Nextel he loved the company so much that he switched our phones too. Now these phones aren't exactly the most fashionable but at this point I'm not concerned about it at all. I'm very clumsy and I treat my phone like a crash test dummie..maybe...

Can't hear me?    That's because my call just got dropped....again.   We have a limited choice of service in our area so went with Sprint after trying 2 other companies.   At first, it seemed like this was the service we wanted, needed & had.  But, as the year has gone by, our service has gotten... review »

I have been with Sprint now for some time and was at one point ready to make a change BUT another part of me is OK with the service. In the beginning there was a problem with extra charges that I did not make.  That has not happened for some time and as the saying goes so far so good. As far as dropped calls....well that still happens from time to time and it used to be frustrating but again that to has not been happening of late. On the upside Sprint offer's good solid affordable plans for the budget wise person (which is good for a person like me who loves to talk...lol).

Bottom line:

My contract...

I live in a rural area.  Prior to deciding to get away from the Tracphone I had at the time, I decided to do some homework about which national providers were available and provided decent coverage in our area.  I settled on Sprint because I had tried out the coverage got decent reception.  Also, they were affordable, had free long distance and also offered free home long distance (up to 50 minutes per month).  Due to the fact that I traveled quite frequently at that time to the Arlington Heights IL area I felt Sprint would be the best choice for me.  I went to the local Sprint store and...

Sprint is able to provide cell phone service for a good price and intially seem very customer friendly. However, their phone break easily and it is very hard to get Sprint to fix them. First of all there are very few Sprint stores that do repairs and second, those repairs take forever to be completed. Also they try to pressure you into the more expensive repair option by neglecting to tell you about cheaper options. For example, the charger port on my phone wasn't working. The Sprint people said I would have to buy a new phone, but when I took my phone to a generic cell phone repair shop in town... review »

I called Sprint because they messed up my bill...The lady spoke English and was really helpful, but she took so long and my phone ended up dying...anyways when I got home from work I checked to see if she corrected my bill and she did...when I received my bill I noticed that she gave me over $270 in credits...boy are they stupid!  Then on top of that they never took out the payment that I gave them from my bank account.  Sprint is good for giving away money...Just call and be nice and if you have to yell at them and if you dont get what you want say you want to cancel your phone and they will... review »

It seems that the few times I've had to call I get terrible customer service associates.  They are usually really rude and I can't understand them half the time.  There also is always a lot of background noise.

I get dropped calls at my house frequently even though I live in a major city.  I also think their rates are getting too high.

I used Sprint Nextel wireless phone service for about a year, but I wasn't satisfied with it at all.  Although Sprint Nextel offers pretty decent phone service in general, it doesn't have as good a range as AT&T, or T Mobile, and it is also way over priced.

I have had Sprint for 2 years in August of 2008. I have had so many problems. I have had a supervisor hang up on me when I had a problem, I had things added onto my bill that were not requested or approved by me, and signals are getting worse. I was told recently that I have a strong signal at my home. DUH! I know that, but aren't cell phones for traveling??? I do have a great signal at home, but that is not why I have a cell phone, I use it when I am away from home.
My advice, stay away from Sprint.

First of all. You will never see a overall great score for a cell phone company. Mainly because for every one person the company makes happy, they piss off two or three others. Reason being. When you are customer of a fortune 500 cell phone company, you are a number. No more no less. I could leave Sprint right now. But for what? So I can be treated the same way at ATT, Verizon, TMobile?

My current company is Sprint. And for every good thing they do. They do two or three bad. I called in a month ago to ask questions about my account. I finished with extending my contract for another two years. I...

Well I had sprint a few years back then I decided to come back thanks for the Instinct.  There are definite pros and cons to Sprint.  I think the biggest problem is dropped calls, this is probably because your phone is set to be able to roam.  Of course in roaming mode the phone is going to look for the strongest signal (including Verizon and Alltel).  With this set your phone may find another tower stronger so it will switch to that tower which means....dropped call.  The service can't switch between towers like that without dropping the call.  If you are in a so so area then you are probably... review »

I started service with Sprint after Southwestern-Cingular- AT&T or whatever they call themselves now tried to rip me off. I have been a Sprint customer for about 8 years now and fortunately I don't have to contact them often (knocking on wood). I only seem to have a few problems when I change plans or upgrade my phone. Let's just say it is way harder for an existing customer to change phones that for a new customer to start new service. My only BIG gripe is the cost but for the capabilities I want for my phone all carriers will cost about the same or even more. I can't say I understand how Sprint...

years ago when sprint first came out I thought They were pretty good, Thats only becuase they were one of the only phone companys out at the time. i have the motorola i850 and it sucks, it doesnt have video camera on it, not a lot of option either. I've drop it a few times and it damages very easy. I work in NYC where there is the most cell tower around and  i loose bars out side of work(i work in NYC). this is not the phone or company to have if your lively hood depends on the phone or them. i cant not get service in doors most of the time to save my life, i even got the little antena chip...
