Spine-Health.com has provided me with the tools necessary to understand my spinal condition and learn how best to live with it. I came upon this wonderful website when I was researching Brown Seguard Syndrome as a result of a cord injury during surgery. Not only did I find the symptoms and what to expect from this, I also found volumes of doctor written articles explaining the anatomy of the spine, its diseases and conditions, and possible treatments.
Anyone who has had spine problems completely understands how all-encompassing it is to one's life. When I found myself in a position where I didn't know how to deal with it all, the members forums quickly became my lifeline. I have been a part of the online community of spine-health.com for around 2.5 years. The more seasoned members answered my plea for help and gave me the support and encouragement I needed to learn how to deal with my limitations, and always stressed the importance of never losing hope. From simple things like understanding what a disc herniation means, to what to expect during an MRI, to how to take care of oneself after surgery, the information is here.
I have a great support system within my own family, but because spine problems go on for so long, I don't like to discuss my medical conditions with my family because I don't want to sound like a broken record. I have found that it is difficult for me to give a truthful answer when an acquaintance asks me "how are you today", because I really don't think they want to know so I just give off the standard "I'm doing okay, how about you" response. But on spine-health, the members genuinely care and they understand because they are living the same things I am. They can calm my fears when I am scared, or encourage me to see my doctor when I am concerned. Without spine-health, this journey would have been much more difficult.
I consider myself one of the more experienced members now and I stick around because there are many people who are just as scared at this time as I was when I first started out with this. The members are from all walks of life, some young, some old, some educated, some not, some wealthy, some poor, all ethnic groups, people from different countries. What bonds us is that we are all suffering from a spine issue, and unfortunately no one is exempt from finding themselves in the same situation we are in.
If you have a back or neck condition, come on over to spine-health.com. Research your condition through the volumes of articles and even interactive videos. Then pop in and say hello on the member forums. I think you'll like what you find there.
