Spiderman 3 Movie —

Never fear, there are no spoilers contained in this review.  I wouldn't do that to you!

The Case

I'm a big fan of comic book film adaptations, and the Spiderman movies are some of my faves.  I was really excited to see the third, and probably final, installment of Peter Parker's story, and I got out to the theater as soon as I could!  I enjoyed the movie on the big screen, and I'm glad that I went, but I gotta say, I was kinda disappointed with Spiderman 3.

The Good

As with all of the Spidey films, this one carries through with that wonderful charm that we've all come to know and love.  The familiar characters shine, and new ones add a great element to the story.  There were some really humorous, comedic moments that were priceless, and the themes that they chose to address in this third movie are very real and very strong.  Plus, the amazing special effects and action sequences are just as good if not better than the first two movies.  It's definitely worth watching!

The Bad

Having said that, I was really disappointed by the way this movie was structured and put together.  There were a lot of plot points introduced very quickly, and it seemed like the storylines were a little crowded.  In addition, they then had to traverse all of these plots and cap them off, and I wasn't satisfied by much of the wrap-up.  Also, at certain times, it felt like the characters were serving the plot, doing or saying things that just didn't fit with their personalities, or their previous performances in the other movies.

And honestly, I could deal with all of that if the movie was consistently Spiderman-y, but it got sooo dark.  A warning to all parents: if you took your children to see the first two, you may want to preview this one before bringing along the entire family.  There were a lot of 7- to 10-year-olds in the theater, and I don't think that I'd want my 9-year-old brother seeing this one, much less a kid any younger than that.  I guess I didn't mind the tone of the movie, I just wasn't ready for it.

The Verdict

Three stars!  Despite its weak points, Spiderman 3 is a must see for Spidey fans!

I agree SM3 just didn't feel like the other two, but it was still good. Although that part in the middle, when he first gets taken over by venom and hes walking through town with that cheesy music, is hilarious.

I hate to confess, but I fell asleep during the second one. My boys couldn't believe it. I guess I was really tired that night. Maybe I'll just sleep at home instead of paying for III. Tks.
