Spiderman 3 Movie —

The grandkids and I  just got back from the movies a few minutes ago. We had some free tickets given to us from a friend who owns the cinema. Anyway we decided to take the grand kids and a couple neighbors. I have to admit that I am very happy the tickets were free! If I had to pay to go see Spiderman 3, then I would have been ticked!

Now don't get me wrong, the special effects were awesome, Toby still looked spectacular in his skin tight suit, especially the black one! The black crawly substance came from outer space. No one knows where, how or why. It just appeared, landing in some park field and just happened to attach itself on the back of Peter Parker's moped. He and MJ were hanging out in a local spiderweb. For romance in that scene, there was definitely no spidey tingles going on! Not even a twang from a string on the web!

The sand man guy was pretty cool too. I also liked the fact that in the end everyone made up and became friends. I wasn't happy that the best friend Harry was killed off but he might had better offers lined up. Lucky him!

Peter also saves the Police chief's daughter, a pretty blonde. She's thankful and decides to give the keys to the city to Spidey as thanks. Of course all this goes to his head. He appears for the ceremony, hangs upside down and the daughter gives him a kiss. Just like the one he gave MJ in the beginning. Of course MJ sees this and the red headed jealous bug bursts out of MJ and all hell breaks lose. All poor Peter wants to do is propose to his red headed girlfriend.

The movie was 2 hours long...L...O...N...G... of MJ feeling like a failure because she got a bad review for her opening act. She was replaced by someone who had more talent...hum... Anyway she's on another one of her roller coaster rides of emotion. Lots of ups and downs, more downs. The story replays some of the first 2 movies and Peter Parker finds out that after 2 years of thinking the bad guy killed his beloved Uncle, the cops had all that wrong. The bad guy had a partner. So of course that particular bad guy just so happens to become the sand man because he escaped from prison. He was running from the cops and fell into a hole. The next thing you see are these things spinning around him. It's some sort of scientific experiment. Again, that just popped in there, no reason and nothing after that. (I would have liked to know what the scientists were doing there.)

Then comes into the office a new photographer who's always trying to best Peter Parker by thinking he can get pictures of Spiderman with his hands in the cookie jar. You know, the same thing like all the other super heroes. People are scared of them at first, then they love them then all of a sudden the super hero does something wrong or has a bad day and everyone hates them. The same here. He makes some fake picture of Spidey, gets all kinds of atta-boys, you know, the 15 minute of fame thing. Peter exposes him. The guy loses his girl and his job so he's ripe for the picking to become an evil, bad guy.

Peter manages to make an idiot of himself then realizes he needs to get rid of the crawly black stuff that has taken him over. Kind of sounds familiar, doesn't it? So of course our hereo has a terrible fight with himsef and overcomes the evil space goop. But the new photographer just so happens to be in the same place as Spidey and as Spidey is shedding the evil, it falls on the new guy. Thus creating a new creature with teeth that remind me of a vampire's.

Knowing Peter has to battle the 2 of these creatures he appeals to old friend, Harry. How is also battling with his own emotional roller coaster.

In the end, there is a great deal of crying by the actors. Lots of emotions, lots of stuff adults would be more apt to understand. The kids in our group said they didn't care for this Spiderman. The only part they liked was the sand man and those effects. I kind of felt like the writer or director left some important factors out of the movie. Maybe they were in a hurry and it showed through out the movie. While I know, as a writer/author stories are bred off other ideas and stories, there was certainly nothing new or exciting in this movie. Not enough heart pumping action and too much crying.

I hope that whom ever writes the next Spiderman will come up with fresh new ideas and a story line that will WOW the audience. I would not watch the reruns of this movie but I would for the first 2. And for Gods sake, please do the viewers a favor and don't keep us running into road blocks and ideas just dropped in there to fill an otherwise boring void.
