I purchased Speed Stacks for my oldest son, who was five at the time, last Christmas. I bought them as sort of an afterthought to fill in a few gifts to make the number of presents even with my other two children. Little did I know this would become his favorite present of the season. He studied the DVD and used the mat and timer to practice the art of cup stacking. Yes, this is a sport. Not only did this hold his interest through out the year, but he became faster than any person we ran into, adults or children. People were fascinated by this simple concept of stacking cups as fast as you can in a predetermined pattern. Ironically, the physical education teacher at our school teaches a unit on Speed Stacks. She said she can usually pick out the good readers and struggling readers by how they perform on this. Those that use both hands stacking are better readers than those who don't. It is also great for dexterity in all types of sports. The entire kit runs around $30.00 for a mat, 12 cups, a timer and an instructional DVD. There is also a set available with out a time or a mat for around $15.00. The cups are available in at least one dozen colors. Any age child or adult will love this. It's great for some one that is hard to buy for. Have fun!
