Special K - Crackers-Italian Tomato & Herb —

The Special K Italian Tomato & Herb Crackers take me back to my childhood.  When I was in middle school my church took us to a Christian camp during the summer.  It was the Bill Rice Ranch in Murfreesboro, TN.  During our free time we would often hang out at the Trading Post--a shopping area at the camp.  I was entering the very picky eating phase and turbulent adolescent years.  One of the things I loved to eat was the pizza crust with tomato sauce--nothing else on it, not even the cheese.  My youth pastor noticed that I would order a slice of pizza for 2 bucks and then pull all the topping off only to roll the crust up and eat it.  He made a comment to my brother and my brother told him, "Just be happy that she wants to eat."  During the rest of the two weeks I was at camp my youth pastor would follow me to the Trading Post and if I bought pizza he would to.  Then he would come over and have me take my topping and place it on his.

The other day I was at Wal-Mart, of course and I saw the Special K Crackers on a center display.  They had a sign on them $2.78.  At first I thought they were going to be like the Nabisco Sun-Dried Tomato & Basil Wheat Thins; which I love so I wanted to try them.  Well, when I got closer I realized it wasn't a box of crackers but rather those little low cal packs.  The box contains 6 -0.77 oz. pouches.  Each pouch is 90 calories.

I put them away and forgot I had them until about a week later.  I took a pack to the office and I really liked them.  Each pouch probably has about 12-15 quarter-sized crackers in them.  The crackers are a little softer than the crunchy Wheat Thins.  Special K Italian Tomato & Herb tastes like crackers that have been marinated in marinara sauce.  You don't just get a hint of tomato or herb.  When you put a Special K cracker in your mouth you get a mouthful.  Let the cracker sit on your tongue for a few seconds and you will swear that you are indulging in pizza.  Yes, it's that good!

I will definitely be buying these again.  I gave a pack to a friend at church and her daughter told me the next day that her mother really liked them.  The pouch is just big enough to satisfy my craving for a snack.  And I figure if it has the Special K logo on it then it is probably going to be pretty healthy, right?  I don't know how something that tastes so good can be good for you but this might be a dieter's answer to a late night snack or low cal snack between meals.

I am somewhat like you but I have to avoid their berries cereal and other products that might have berries b/c of my strawberry allergy. Funny you should mention the blueberry cereal. That is what is currently in my cabinet. I like it a lot--I actually have it on my list of items to review so I don't want to say too much but for the record, it sure is scrump-dili-ishous ;+)

If it has Speical K on the box I will probably try it and most likely like it too! You know they have a new Special K blueberry cereal? Have you tried that yet? It's really good--the children even like it!! ~Anna Leigh

Yeah, the box says they're new so it's probably been within the last month or two that they hit the shelfs.

Thanks for sharing this good news with us, Gigi! These sound absolutely delicious. So Special K comes in crackers too -- who knew?

Not only does this sound yummy, the small calorie packs are good portion control - not for you, for me!

These sound good. I love crackers and the small packs would be great for me. I will look around for them.
