When I had kids, I gained weight. It seemed like if I even looked at something the wrong way I would put on 10 pounds. After the birth of my second, I found myself gaining 20 pounds on TOP of the baby weight. I was terrified.

I tried WeightWatchers. I tried diet pills. I tried everything, but SparksPeople seemed to be a nice, cheap altnerative.

Generally, I think it's a good site. You get involved and you get to have a "support" from other people who are going through the same thing.

The pros:

1) Complete free: There's no catch. It's not like you have to sign up and then pay to actually use key features. It's all free.

 2) Great nutrition facts: Want to know how much sodium is in that hot dog? How about how much calcium is in that ice cream? They have it all.

3) Success stories: It works. There are no diet pills involved.

4) Online community: If you need support, they have it!

5) Great email reminders: Food, exercise, etc. It's nice ot have that little reminder of different exercises.

The cons:

1) Online community: I don't like disappointing people, so to have to report my food to a group leader just didn't fit my style.

2) Slightly confusing website: I'm not Old Skool and yes I know what I'm doing, but the site itself isn't the most friendly. It takes more than a few minutes to log your food items. I don't have those few precious minutes.

Overall, it's a nice site. I suggest giving it a try to find out if it could work for you.

i'm also a member of sparkpeople and id have to say i've NEVER had to report my food intake or anything to anyone. As a user, YOU choose what groups and communities you would like to join.
