I found SparkPeople.com several weeks ago through another site called MyPoints.com (which I would also encourage you to check out if you're into completing free offers and surveys for prizes!). I am so so glad that I took the time to look into it!

 SparkPeople is 100% FREE. That's right. No hidden fees or catches. You have unlimited access to all the health and nutrition articles (and there are LOADS of them), exercise videos and workout plans/instructions, and the nutrition and fitness trackers.

So far, the people I have interacted with are very friendly and willing to give advice on getting started with SparkPeople. A lot of them have been on the SparkPeople fast break diet plan for a while and see fabulous results. Others share the progress they are making on the fitness end. It is very motivating to see pictures or read people's blogs and realize that all/most of them are normal people, all ages, who are working at making their lives better through a proper lifestyle.

Sparkpoints are a lot of fun to accumulate and use to purchase virtual "goodies" for yourself or others. Several people gave me "presents" for my SparkPage as a welcome gift. There are plenty of opportunities to receive points each day...anything from reading an article to answering a one question poll and tracking the food you eat will earn you SparkPoints.

Message boards are a lot of fun to interact with fellow SparkPeople users. You have the chance to ask questions about recipes, dieting tips and strategies, various exercises and workout methods, and just get to know other people.

It's nice to receive a couple emails each day from the site...many times the articles are really helpful. The emails also have a link to click on and find out if there are any special deals going on at gyms in your area. Sometimes they have free trial periods or something and you can really benefit using this tool if going to the gym is your thing and you can't afford it or want to give it a test-drive.

 

Basically, I cannot say enough good things about this website and all the wonderful tools and resources they provide FOR FREE! I really encourage everyone, whether you're a perfect weight or you know you could stand to lose a few pounds, to check it out! This is all about building a healthy way of life and giving you the motivation and support you need to acheive your goals, fitness and nutrition related and otherwise.
