Space Needle - Seattle, WA —

To the Point

In Seattle we were most interested in the Space Needle located at the large area called the Seattle Center. This is located at 305 Harrison Street. The SeattleCenter is a great area with an arcade; a music museum (that was recommended to us but we never got there) and science fiction museum as well as a beautiful garden just to name a few things.

A Closer View

After walking around this area we went to the Space Needle. We had made reservations. At one time we heard the food wasn't very good but many people told us there was a new chef. We found the whole experience wonderful. The food was very good and the rotating top amazing to experience. It took 47 minutes to go around. The service was very good; it was crowed and noisy and not all the seats were along the window. We hadn't asked in advance but we got a table next to the window.

After eating we went to the observatory where inside there were some nice interactive displays; lots of information on the walls as well as a café and binoculars for our use. It took 41 seconds to get down to the bottom floor. pace Needle elevators travel at 10 mph, 14 feet per second, 800 feet per minute, or as fast as a parachutist or a raindrop falls to earth.

The Space Needle is expensive to go to. It will cost you $16.00 if you are 14 to 64; $8.00 if you are 4 to 13 and free if you are under 3. That may not sound like a lot but you won't spend more than an hour here. It's located at 400 Broad Street. The observation deck is open Sunday through Thursday from 9:00a.m. to 11:00p.m. and until 12:00a.m. Friday and Saturday 365 days a year.

Note: If you eat at the Sky Cafe admission to the observatory is free; however dinner will cost around $30.00 a person. We thought it would be fun to eat here. Essentially the meal is reasonable if you factor in the cost of admission.
